I don't feel nearly as bad about the ending of this season as in 2018. That year, everything was set up in October for the Brewers to win it all. I was actually depressed for a couple days when that season ended.
Now, with the controllable core of pitching and smart management that knows how to fix offensive weaknesses brought on by underperformance of Yelich and Huira, I feel really good about the next two or three years, at least.

You've got to go with your best against the top of the Braves order in that situation. If your goal was to take the lead who would have closed. You take Woody out after 12 pitches. Boxberger. But the goal was to outlast the Braves and eventually score in the 9th, 10th, 11th or whenever. Not necessarily in the 9th. Your comment is fair. I'm still upset with Harder's early entry in Game 7 of the 2018 NLCS.

6 runs and 50 strikeouts in 35 innings at bat. 50 strikeouts. In 35 innings. It's incomprehensible how helpless this team was at the plate. And as noted, there truly could not have been a more perfect ending to the season than Yelich watching a ball go by right down the middle.
Glad the Bucks are playing again.

I really don't understand how you don't pinch hit for Yelich. Incomprehensible!

I really don't understand how you don't pinch hit for Yelich. Incomprehensible! We already used our 3rd string catcher. Yelich needs to get his head out of ass in 2022 in what the Brewers are paying him.

Some tidbits before moving on for now:
I'm sure fans of the Rays, White Sox and either Dodgers or Giants will feel no better than we Brewer fans do this week. Again, it is all about getting through the 162 game grind with a playoff berth and THEN being hot in October. The term "incomprehensible" regardless the reason for losing is a bit strong.
All that talk about whether it is prudent to coast after clinching seems irrelevant now. I do not think that was a factor for the Brewers. The Rays played much better through the very end, and their result was no different than the Brewers. The coasting was mostly in how pitching was handled, and Brewer pitching was pretty good in the NLDS.
If there was any doubt about who got the better end of the Davies and Grisham for Lauer and Urias trade, I think we have our answer. Lauer pitched well for most of the season and today, and Urias came through with many clutch hits. He played stellar defense today. Time will tell about the Feyereisen and Rasmussen trade for Adames and Phillips (flipped for Tellez). For the short term, the edge goes to the Brewers. Rasmussen was looking like a stud late in the regular season, but did not fare well in his ALDS start.
Kudos to Lo Cain. He played well today with a stiff neck. He played hard and well.

Yelich needs to get his head out of ass in 2022 in what the Brewers are paying him. I don't really want to do all this now, but this player doesn't remotely resemble the guy from 2018-19. I don't know what it is, but I'm certain that deep in his heart he had no interest in taking that final at-bat against Smith. He's completely lost in the woods. The best we can hope from him in '22 and beyond is that he somehow finds his way back to AVERAGE.

One more thing.
It seems that Ryan Braun did not sign late in the season because he and the team did not want that to be a disruption when things were going so well.
Nevertheless, it would have been interesting to see whether he could have made a difference in the postseason. Assuming good health, I think his bat would have made a big difference in the outcome of this series.
I think it is unfortunate that is retirement celebration got mixed in with the division clincher. I still don't feel that he has been given an adequate sendoff. That is no one's fault, it is just the way things fell into place.

The problem was the team celebrated the NL Central title like they won the World Series, then Counsell decided to mail it in the last two weeks of the season and everyone fell into a slump because they got pulled out of their rhythm.

I seem to remember the offensive swoon starting before they clinched the division. The Cards were on an epic hot streak, but they shut down the Crew pretty effectively in the series sweep. For that matter, the offense looked pretty anemic in the loss to end the Cubs series before that. Thank God for the Mets, or the Crew might have had a real challenge taking the division.

My mistake; I shouldn't have said 'when they clinched the division.' I should have said 'when they had all but clinched the division.'

Anyone else watching the NLCS? A couple of great games called by BA!
Nothing has been decided in either league, but it is noteworthy that the teams with the worst regular season records in each league appear to be the favorites right now to make the WS. It just goes to show it is all about who is hot in October, like Kiki Hernandez, Joc Petersen and Austin Riley. Throw many of the analytics from the regular season out the window.

Houston eliminates Boston with a 5-0 shutout to win the ALCS 4-2. It's the third World Series trip for Houston in the last five years

Braves eliminate Dodgers 4-2 to win the pennant. its the first trip to the World Series for the Braves since 1999 when they lost to the Yankees. How many times in the past four seasons have the Brewers lost in the playoffs to the eventual NL pennant winner? Twice that I remember....
