Good first game. Newby can shoot. Coleman is going to have a very successful career in this league. Gholston was winded but otherwise showed flashes. Best PG in the league will have better shooting nights. If Newby can shoot, he needs more shots. Believe it was three attempts

He looked winded at times. 1st game of the season. Gholston also looked like he's gonna do some big things in a Panther uniform. He had 15pts 6rbs, Te'Jon 11pts 9 assists, JT 10pts, Grant Coleman 14pts 6rbs (who would have called that one). We shot 43.5% from 3pt as a team. Outrebounded them.
I'll take it. We win a lot of these games.

If Wilbourn plays and the refs don't kill us the last few minutes we win. You could tell our conditioning wasn't up to par, we looked gassed which considering the circumstances is very understandable. To me, we looked like the more talented and physically dominant team on the court. Gholston and Coleman looked awesome. Everyone else gets back to what we expect them to be and this will be a very good HL team.

I'm not sure how much of a factor first game vs sixth game factored into this one. TJ did not have one of his better games. Size mattered this game. I liked the newcomers. PBS will have some pieces to work with. Now, can he find a way to pull a few more of these close games out for a change?

For those wondering, the Panther Arena is way nicer than the Bramlage.

Not sure who exactly tested positive, but there’s definitely going to be an adjustment period to getting back in shape to play 20-30 minutes of D1 basketball. Granted I’m 36 and not in anywhere near as good of shape as these guys, it took me a while after I had Covid to not get winded doing any sort of physical activity.
Overall, we had a chance and lost one that we could have easily won. The good news is that we were competitive even with Lucas not having his best game. Even though K State isn’t that great this year, I think a bad Big 12 team is just as good (if not better) than a good Horizon League team. So we should be in pretty good shape this year to compete.
I’m excited to see how we do against Western Michigan on Sunday!

Also, I’m going to go on record and say that Coleman is going to be a stud in the HL. Looks like the kind of player Northern Kentucky always brings in. Just a great looking shot.

Here are my thoughts on tonight's game. I thought that Bradford inside for K State was the difference, as he continually disrupted our offensive flow and had some easy buckets. Shooters galore on this team, as Coleman, Newby and Gholston stepped into and hit some big shots. Some positives for sure, and WMU will be another good test on Sunday. I will be over in KZOO covering that one. tuorisportsreport.blogspot.com/2020/12/mke-basketball-panthers-lose-thrilling.html

I realize that the circumstances surrounding this game and the season are extraordinary, but can we all agree that at some point soon these must become WINS? All the happy talk aside, we are now just 37-59 under PBS. I want to get back to where we were as much as anyone and consistent narrow misses just don't cut it. Let's not lose sight of this.

A one point loss to a Big 12 team with a recruiting class rated as high as 20 with a major league coach is not embarrassing but totally disappointing. Game was very competitive for a first game vs a team with 5 under their belt. Would have been a nice win. Agree with most on this board that newcomers show promise. Thought Taylor looked comfortable and strong for a freshmen. We did miss CJ on the inside. These close game losses do get tiring. Need a win Sunday to lift my spirit.

If Kansas State didn't have losses to Drake, UNLV by 10 and a D2 school, I would feel better about a one point loss. Lucky to have shot after trailing by 7 points late. Gave up too many wide open three's.
