I wanted to talk something other than PB&Jr. Heading into Year 4 of the Baldwin Era, the program currently will put three players "from Wisconsin" on the court for the team this upcoming season: 1. Te'Jon Lucas - Milwaukee Washington grad transferred back here after playing in Illinois 2. Kaleim Taylor - Milwaukee Academy of Sciences signed his LOI 3. Tyler Ellingson - redshirt freshman comes from Menomonee Falls, went to high school at Sussex Hamilton Baldwin has mentioned wanting to recruit the state and the city as part of his strategy, albeit not as heavily as LaVall Jordan pushed it (Val brought it up in his introductory press conference) Here's another school, a low-major that isn't in the state will actually put four players on the court next season: 1. Matthew Wade - Milwaukee Golda Meir will be a freshman 2. Justin Brookens - Milwaukee Vincent by way of JUCO 3. Adam Anhold - Janesville Craig by way of JUCO 4. Rod Johnson - Sun Prairie, grad transfer from Chattanooga That school? You guessed it, Frank Stallone...er...Western Illinois.

The one that got away and shouldve been a priority was Marcus Domask. He probably isn't long for SIU either. Kid is a stud and had a great year.

In this era it's harder to get kids to stay home. That being said it does seem like the closer players are to their homes the longer they stay. So I do like that we have 9 guys on our roster from either Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota or Indiana(although it's Gary so it's basically Chicago). Baldwin has deep Chicago roots, so it makes sense that he recruits Illinois heavy. That's cool and all that Rob got Wisconsin kids to somehow want to live in Macomb, but 3 of them had no other D1 offers so i'm not sure thats a great example to use...

I'd like to get people out of the mindset that whatever offers a kid has is a real indication of how he's going to do in Division I. Dylan Page had no other offers. The other day, someone posed a question on Twitter - who is the highest-rated recruit the Panthers ever had? Paul and I talked and he thinks James Wright, but besides him Shaq Boga had a bunch of high-major offers, and Tyrone Young had a bunch as well. Neither of those guys worked out well for us. Was Tony Meier worth less because he had a walk-on offer from Evansville and his only other D-I scholarship offer was from Western Illinois? I've got no problem with Baldwin recruiting Chicago heavily. To be a strong program in the Midwest, you have to be able to recruit Chicago. That's why Paris Parham is here. Hell, it's why Jeter got Nick Irvin to join his staff at WIU (btw, establishing a pipeline from the Mac Irvin Fire to WIU will get them going quickly). I just feel like we're missing the boat on in-state talent, especially considering the level of in-state talent has skyrocketed in the past 10-15 years. It wasn't that long ago that we'd be pleasantly surprised if as many as 3 kids in a class got to D-I. Now it's a lot more most years.

I believe that Mark Miller has Jasin rated as the No. 33 player in his class. That's a pretty deep group!

That is probably a very low grade given the players who have made names for themselves on the circuit before Jasin did. Not all the ballers above 30 will make it. Whether it be in school or in a new environment, this always become a crapshoot. This may be a great recruit. Only time will tell. I remember Jason Frederick who was solid and won games for The Panthers with shooting and aggressiveness. Welcome to the program. Wish you well.

One thing about J-Fred: he was second-team all-state as a junior at Waukesha North.
