That in itself is a question you should have about your coach's recruiting philosophy. Why is he recruiting guys that already had commitment issues at another school? Most mid-major powers are built on 4-5 year players with a few JUCOs or transfers sprinkled in. You cannot build a strong foundation for your program when you are replacing 1/2 your roster every year. LOVE this post! Please study it, fellas. Sure, that sounds good and might be true. Yet, as we know, other schools can negative recruit against Milwaukee because of the people that are in charge and still here that run the school. You need all three levels to make things work.

On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the highest impact, these transfers combine to a four. Let's just hope we don't lose Lucas or any of the younger guys like Brown or Wilbourn. Until we lose an impact player like one of these guys, this is all a big nothing burger. Nothing brow raising about PBS, just some guys not getting their desired playing time looking for greener grass elsewhere. Like others have said, this is typical CBB in 2020.

There are over 300 players already wanting to transfer. A sampling of their stats would indicate all want more playing time. Just think of a kid like Henderson told he can make it time after time. Not in The NBA but maybe somewhere else. Michel Carter has made a few bucks overseas. He didn’t play at South Carolina and didn’t play at UWM. To me this is college basketball. Wichita State is losing 4 starters. Ouch! I would prefer Coach stays cautious about transfers. Only consider players your staff knows, such as Dillon. JUCO and Grad transfers make more sense to me. We have from what I can gather 4 starters returning. Turro appears on the fence. I don’t know what Allen’s status is academically but I think he would be wise to stay put and work on his game. I wish Henderson would have considered that. One of his problems was that he appeared out of shape. That is something I don’t understand but all athletes are different. Got three freshmen coming in who may all get playing time. I hope the redshirt kid from Sussex Hamilton works on strength cause he could be that dead nuts shooter we need. He can knock it down. Finally My hope is that Lucas and Baker find that something that winners understand. I haven’t seen that in a couple years at The Panther Arena. If that happens the seats could fill up a little. Given this time to reflect there are still interesting things to consider. Stay well.

For the record, Mitch Carter DID play at UWM (albeit not much, as he had Anthony Hill and Kyle Kelm ahead of him) and significantly contributed to a big road win at Loyola as part of a conference chamionship team.

Didn’t mean to say Carter didn’t play. Saying he contributed little but had talent. Both UW and MU were looking at him out of Rufus King. Maybe like Henderson? Just saying.

I’m not really surprised about any of the transfers yet. Madge and Behrendt have shown they can play at a scholarship level, even if it’s not D-1. Bobby Arthur Williams also probably fits better with a D-2 program as a scholarship player. And I figured something was up when Harrison Henderson didn’t play at all against Youngstown State, a team that seemed to dominate the boards against us.
Playing time wise, none of our major players are transferring, but it doesnt look good for team chemistry.

It looks like we’re trying to get a guy from the Big East that can help but still need a big man that can help

From the JS article PNP posted in Te'Jon's recruiting thread:
If this is true, the loss was as minimal as could be. Two open scholarships.

I'm not too worried about this. Jeter spent the last several years of his tenure with 350+ players in the transfer portal without losing a bunch of transfers, but they were also better players for the most part. These guys played a total of 28 minutes per game for a sh*t team. We don't need to act like this is some massively awful occurrence that is derailing something great. The team isn't good, it's not going to be good any time soon, we have no data to show that we should be excited for the future, and frankly because of that losing a bunch of great players wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. If it led the university to decide the time was right to move on.

Jimmy, I'm not convinced that you can omit Jeter's first year and count Baldwin's. After all, PBS benefited immensely from a roster built by Jeter and Jordan (and Boudreau). In many respects, the upcoming year will be his Year 3.
