Out of curiosity, i fired up the At Bat app and looked in on the Brewers’s game with the Diamondbacks.
Top of the sixth: Josh Hader relieves Cory Knebel, who retired the DBacks 1-2-3 in the fifth. Hader throws nine pitches: all nine are swinging strikes, for three Ks. I’d say he’s rounding into shape nicely.

I saw it in person. Fans sounded genuinely excited when Hader entered. I think there were only a couple foul balls off of him. I believe all but one pitch clocked 96 or 97 mph. He faced three Dbacks regulars. In his other appearance last Sunday, he also fanned the three batters he faced. I hope he is saving something for the regular season.

I'm very concerned about Jeffress. Losing Bobby Wahl to injury was a big blow to the bullpen. Hopefully no more such bullpen surprises.

The red flags are flying high for Knebel. I doubt he will pitch effectively this year, if at all. I have already adjusted my thinking to believe anything the Brewers get out of him would be a bonus.
Wahl, Jeffress, Knebel and maybe Nelson. Oh oh. This is why I wrote what I did after the NLCS defeat. For ANY team to win a World Series, so many things must go right. Last year, things went right. This year? We'll see.

It will hinge on pitching.
I believe the Crew will be at least as good on offense this season as they were last season, especially as they will have Moustakis and Grandal all year. Yelich, Cain and Shaw should be solid performers. Another year like 2018 from Aguilar would go a long way, especially if he can even out his contribution over the length of the season. Anything like decent output from Braun would be big.
It’s not encouraging to see performers like Jeffress and Knebel injured, but we’ve been hearing about our minor league prospects for the past few years, and some of them contributed to last year’s success. While Milwaukee waits for answers regarding the pitching staff, several of those young pitchers will have the opportunity to show what they can do. Haider has been good, and fantastic at his best.

I'm a lifelong Brewers fan, so I worry.

everything fell into place last year. yelich hit like he was ted williams and hader and the bullpen made batters look like fools for most of the playoffs. jeffres ' pitching cost them that series, if he doesn't blow Game 2, that series is 3-0 Brew crew and game 6 is a close out game to send the boys to the world series.
