Milwaukee SHOULD have an NHL team. the city has a long history of supporting minor league teams then transitioning to the majors. see minor league Brewers to Braves in the 50s. Unfortunately, the support the Admirals isn't that strong. Even with a relatively low ticket price (by AHL standards) and a centrally located arena, the Admirals are currently 20th in attendance among the 31 AHL teams this year. And from my experience, the Admirals do a really good job of running the business; their ticketing team is attentive, they have things going on all the time at the arena for their games, etc., but are still only attracting a little over 4,600 fans per game. By comparison, the league leader in attendance is Cleveland with 8,242 fans per game and followed by Hershey with 8,003 fans per game. The only comparable-sized cities below Milwaukee in attendance are Tucson and San Jose (who already has an NHL team). I just don't think Milwaukee has a big enough fanbase for hockey to even consider an NHL team if we are in the bottom half among AHL teams. I agree. Milwaukee is not big enough for an NHL team. Some thought couple of years ago we could not support an NBA team. Of course the Bucks were very bad, but those crowds were terrible. Back to the Admirals. They also make their attendance jump once football slows down. Admirals reps are not sure why, yet that is the trend. Tickets prices are fair. Lowest being $15. With four concerts still to come and UW Badger Band Night, attendance will spike! Tonight, looking at ticketmaster the only seats left is up in the 400 level. So, big crowd tonight at UWMPA with a another sold out Bucks crowd. Also, Marquette was in the day. The dollar is there to go around. Admirals just need to keep winning and finally win in the playoffs.

you do remember that the Bradley Center was built for hockey right? we came VERY close to getting an NHL team in the early 90s, but then the NHL increased the expansion fee dramatically, from 30 million to 50 million. back then there was no revenue sharing or salary cap, so expansion teams would be real bad for at least the first few years. we're talking 10 to 15 wins a season bad.

Admirals have 68 points, which leads the AHL by 9 points. Almost certainly will top 100. Despite all their regular season success they haven't gotten out of the first round of the playoffs in many years

With the Panthers not looking like they will be playing deep into March, I would highly recommend following the Admirals for the rest of winter/beginning of spring if you are looking for something to hold you over into at least baseball season. They are a lot of fun to watch.

Admirals are 37-12-4 and have 81 points 6 more than next closest team. they lead the division by 7 over Iowa and would face Chicago in Round 1, if the season ended today. Magic number to clinch a playoff spot is 18 points.

them, and the Wave and the Bucks are the three teams I'm following. I still have a problem with the Bucks as if it was up to the owners, the Panthers would be at the Klotsche Center full time and the Admirals (and probably Wave) would be gone. I know I’m in the minority on that, but what can I say? I guess I hold grudges. I do always find myself enjoying any Admirals and Wave games I go to. It’s nice to go to the Arena and think there’s actually a legitimate chance my team will come out with a win. (Yeah, I’m still really bitter after this weekend.)

With the Panthers at the Klotsche Center, our attendance would literally be 10 people a game. Our program would be in even worse shape than now, hard as that might be to believe. And yes the Wave and Admirals would both be out of business.
