Shockingly, this wasn't the only vacancy still open. Chicago St & Delaware St are still open.

Weird that it took so long, but this an excellent hire by Detroit. Did great things at Texas Southern. Recruits well.

Holy sh*t if they don't get Mike Davis after all this, there's some really crazy stuff going on at UDM that we don't even know about.

Evidently, the offer on the table is $650,000 per year. Will Detroit top it?

The most recent/final hire off the offseason came at Texas Southern, which landed former LSU coach Johnny Jones. The hire came about on June 25, after former TSU coach Mike Davis was lured away by Detroit Mercy.
Fifty-one programs hired full-time replacements; Chicago State, Delaware State, Alabama A&M and Maryland-Eastern Shore have interim coaches in place for 2018-19.

It's hard to believe that Memphis is going to replace Tubby Smith with Penny Hardaway! What are these ADs thinking?! When four-star guard Lester Quinones committed to Memphis on Friday, the Tigers fans were in a complete frenzy. The commitment from the IMG Academy standout was expected for weeks, but Penny Hardaway and his staff shocked the college basketball world once again when they reeled in arguably the best graduate transfer in former Little Rock guard Rayjon Tucker. Auburn, Kansas, Iowa State, Memphis and West Virginia were the final five for Tucker, but he was also mulling over forgoing his senior season and heading to the NBA. Tucker declared for the NBA Draft, and he had until May 30 to remove his name. With his commitment to Memphis on Saturday, Tucker clearly made his decision. He was not invited to the NBA Combine, and the Tigers will be under a national spotlight next season, so the move makes sense for Tucker. Memphis' 2019 class now consists of Tucker, No. 1 player in the country James Wiseman and four-stars DJ Jeffries, Lester Quinones, Damion Baugh and Malcolm Dandridge. Hardaway was expected to get the local Memphis guys that he had previous relationships with, but he is now proving that there are no barriers on the players he can get. Hardaway and his staff still have two open scholarships following the transfer of David Wingett, and they are still after RJ Hampton, Precious Achiuwa, Trendon Watford and Boogie Ellis. Achiuwa came in for an official visit two weeks ago, and Ellis was on an unofficial visit to Memphis on Thursday. Memphis leads for both Achiuwa and Ellis in the 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions, and the 2019 class could be absolutely epic if Hardaway and his staff are able to land commitments for both of them. There was a ton of national scrutiny when Memphis turned to their prodigal son to revitalize the program, but Hardaway is quickly proving that he is one of the most dangerous coaches on the recruiting trail.

Soon enough, we'll find out what kind of coach he is ... and I don't mean only wins and losses.

He’s done a phenomenal job recruiting, on paper. Can he coach? That’s still very much tbd.
