Had a couple fellow alumnus over for the game. We all used to attend all the home games (and some road games) back in the hay day 2001-2006. I still stream every game, my buddies do not. After watching that game, I can guarantee the guys I watched the game with, who used to paint their face with UWM pride, won’t watch or attend another game. That was total garbage. I don’t know whether to be more sad or mad

That post was total garbage. The team is undermanned. Fought their butts off! Thanks bud! I hope you read my post in totality. I go to a lot of games. I stream every game. I annoy people with my Uwm fandom. That exhibition on national tv was awful. I’ve seen bad performances 100s of times. But trying to win back fans to get the average attendance over 1500...that game won’t help, undermanned or not. I love my school and every team they put out there. Please think about this post objectively before you call it garbage. I represent 80% of the potential fan base

I don’t know whether to be more sad or mad Signed, Friend of Bandwagon Jumpers Unfortunately this is way too common. I work with several sports management grads and majors from GCU at Maryvale Park. They suddenly lost interest in GCU's forthcoming conference tournament because GCU finished what they view as a disappointing third place in the regular season, rather than the predicted first. At 20-10, they did not have as good of a record as the previous two seasons. They do not think the Lopes can get past NMSU. Where is the team loyalty? Sports saturation on TV and other media has really changed the mindset of many younger fans. I appreciate that we regulars on the board have passion for the program, even though we express in different ways. WindMillDunk, this reply to your post is not about you, it is about your friends and the many just like them.

Disappointing game mainly because of the 15 minute dry spell, not including the start of the game. Hard to score enough points in 20 minutes to win a game in March. I do think CWN would have been a nice spark when the offense was cold. He can be erratic at times, as most freshman can be, but I think he would have been able to help create some opportunities on offense. The real kick in the pants is that we could have had CSU waiting for us tomorrow. Even though they are playing well, I would have liked our chances against them. Wasn’t meant to be I suppose. Proud of the guys for showing up the last two years in March. Hopefully we can put a little more of a regular season together going forward so the consolation prize can be the NIT instead of packing it up for the year. Looking forward to next season! Oh, and as if going to bed angry isn’t enough... I get to look forward to waking up extra early to shovel (assuming my snowblower won’t start, which I can all be guarantee it won’t), and go to work with a cold. And if it’s anything like last year’s loss, my coworkers will all come up to me and act like my mom just died. Can’t wait!

I didnt mean to re quote my comment, that shows my age! All I was saying with my post is that we were spoiled rotten with Clay, Adrian, Joah,Ronnie, Dylan, Ed, Chris, James, Jason, Nate, etc etc. They played the type of basketball we loved. Most likely because of Bruce, and Rob a little bit. My friends showed me tonight interest is fleeting. I’ll always be a fan, but it’s a “what have you done for me lately “ world now.

Anyway, what killed us was poor shot selection. At our best -- Iowa State for example -- we were running NBA-caliber offensive sets, with nonstop motion on and off-ball to set up good looks. Not so much tonight. But we do know we are capable of doing just that, and losing only one starter will leave the team in excellent position next year to immediately contend for a title in a mediocre conference. As I recall, I predicted 15 wins, so I am more than happy with 16.

I get what you’re saying. Unfortunately, your friends are not in the minority. I graduated in ‘07 and those are some of the names that got me hooked. But the overall alumni support is very poor at our school. And to the casual fan who is used to seeing games that are normally on TV, these performances don’t help. Don’t agree with that logic... But I know what you mean.

Since SuperKing is apparently the gatekeeper, I’ll go back to being the silent majority. Been registered since 2004, but only a few posts when registered. I’ll shut up, but please know good basketball can turn things around

I’ll shut up, but please know good basketball can turn things around Our biggest problem by far isn't the silence of fans, but the silence of the university administration. I'm SO proud of the coaches and players through the last 28 years for the way they've represented our university. Too bad that their passion and pride hasn't always been reciprocated.

Depth has been a problem the last two years but should finally turn around next year. Personally, I’d make a few other adjustments on the team too but that’s for another thread another day. Don’t be discouraged to keep posting.

His friends and thousands of others will be back if the Panthers have success and become relevant again, but only for the time they are successful and relevant. Unfortunately success and relevance has not happened very often in the history of our program, but if and when it does again... I'll bet there are tons of "fans" at Loyola that just came out of the woodwork.
