I thought it would be fun to point out here that former Panther player Donte Jackson ('97-'98), in his first year as head coach at Grambling, has them on the brink of history...
-Currently leading the SWAC with a 14-12 (10-3) record, with 5 games remaining.
-Grambling has only won 2 regular season SWAC titles in their 41 years of their membership, 1987 and 1989, and have never won the SWAC's Automatic Bid.
-They have won 10 straight games, which is 3 games longer than their previous high in school history!
-Beat Georgia Tech during the non-conference season.
It's great to see a former Panther having success in the coaching ranks, especially should we need another one here at some point in the future. It also gives us something else to keep tabs on as we roll into March.
Thought you all would find this interesting. Pretty impressive stuff!

Thanks for your post PoB. I saw Jackson coach in person this season at Grand Canyon University. I was unaware at the time that he was a Panther. His name rang a bell with me at the time, but it is such a common name that I did not give it a second thought.

Congrats to Donte Jackson and his team. They clinched the SWAC Regular Season title this weekend! Unfortunately, the previous coaching regime rendered the Tigers postseason ineligible this season.
Still a great first season as Head Coach for the former Panther!
