Watching NKU-Oakland. Our administrative incompetence easily enabled the Golden Grizzlies to wrest control of the league ... and I'm not talking about their on-court results!

Calihan is a dump like no other. It is also monstrously sad, as there is a courtside section of a few hundred seats that are never close to full, and thousands of empty seats above them. Oh I fully expect to be wow'd...we'll just leave it at that. The drive into Calihan from the freeway is quite scenic, especially as the sun goes down.

I think everyone needs to take a breath and relax. Some of us were around to see Bo coach a team to a .500 record in front of small crowds in the KC. 4 years later we were rushing the court in a packed Mecca and going to the tourney. Right now it's about setting an expectation for the players and building recruiting classes that can play to higher expectations. A turnaround can be quick if the building blocks are put in place now like Bo and Bruce did back then. As fans our job is to show up and cheer and give the players a home court advantage. If you don't come to games you don't have a right to complain about attendance...you are part of the problem. I go to games, and I would argue that their absence is a result of the problem. We all know who that problem is. I have chosen to take a different route than the folks who don't come anymore, because I won't give her the satisfaction of ruining my good time. I want competent University leadership and I want a winner, no doubt, but I'll be damned if I'm going to give Snagglepuss the satisfaction of taking away the time I get to spend with the friends and great people that going to games has brought to me over the years. She ain't getting rid of me that easy, and I can't be the only one who feels this way. However, I respect Fran and those who no longer come. A lot of those guys have DECADES and THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS more invested in this program than I do. Damn right they have a right to complain!

Those are my sentiments as well. I'm not going to let her ruin my good time or let her cause these players to have to play in an empty gym. I respect the decision of those that have stopped coming to games. They have a right to complain about the program. I'm merely saying that them using poor attendance as an argument about the state of the program is self incriminating.

I respect the decision of those that have stopped coming to games. They have a right to complain about the program. I'm merely saying that them using poor attendance as an argument about the state of the program is self incriminating. Your last statement is not correct. The collapse of attendance and fan interest is in fact the single most damning indictment of the condition of the program, and the greatest threat to it. Now if it were the case that the attendance and fan interest collapse were attributable to those of us (on this board, you really are just talking about me) who both observe and remark on the dire situation and who no longer attend, you might have a point. But of course that's not the case at all. I made my own decision not to attend until doing so would not constitute support for the administrative incompetence and mendacity that I STRONGLY believe has crippled if not mortally wounded our program. But I have never suggested to a single other person that they should not attend, much less formed or supported a boycott. Nor have I ever heard anyone else do so. If you enjoy the games, by all means, go. Support the players. So that raises the question: if people aren't going to the games because cranky old BBF refuses to ignore the fact that the emperor has no clothes, and if the rumors that Rob Jeter is standing on Kilbourn Avenue mean-mugging entering fans aren't true, why has attendance collapsed? What could possibly be to blame? If that's not obvious, I don't know what to tell you at this point. Our AD's decision to fire Jeter, chase away a roster of great players and effectively force the program to start over from near zero did not go unnoticed by the general ticket buying public. Nor has the collapse of the Horizon League to low-major quality. A mid-major program is always in a precarious position. Whatever you might think about Rob Jeter as a coach (as I understand it, opinions vary), those of us who knew him at all knew he was absolutely loyal to and dedicated to his players and to this program, and had the program on a decided recruiting upswing despite unbelievable obstacles thrown in his way by a succession of terrible athletic directors. And then our latest AD decided mere obstacles weren't enough, and blew it all up. Well it seems like the public noticed, because despite our administration's two attempts in two years to replace Rob Jeter with a Big Ten assistant with no head coaching experience (Sound familiar? Let's call them Jeter light 1 and Jeter light 2), they have stayed away literally by the thousands. Even though nobody has called for a boycott. Even though Rob Jeter isn't mean mugging fans on Kilbourn Avenue. (He lives in Las Vegas now - really.) The collapse in fan interest has been entirely organic, and it is easily understood. Like I said, by all means go to the games if you enjoy them. Say hello to our AD while you are there. (If she is there.) Thank her for providing you and the hundreds of other fans that attend our D1 basketball games with all that extra room to stretch your legs and hang your coat and for making sure that when you go over to Goolsby's after the game, you'll have no problem getting a table and getting served immediately. While you're at it, find out if you can reserve your seats yet at the Klotsche.

To get back to where this thread started, the team has unfortunately made it extraordinarily difficult on itself by starting this 5 game trip against the dregs of the league at 1-2. Not to overstate the obvious, but with NKU undefeated at this point, a loss in either of the next two games will put us in an extremely precarious position. If we are 3-4 entering the game with NKU, and NKU is 6-0, any realistic chance to contend for the title would evaporate with a loss to the Norse. NKU's next two games before they come to Milwaukee are at home.

Tammy Baldwin might object...sad LOL I actually forgot about stupid conspiracy theory! There is no logical explanation for the hiring of Braun over more qualified candidates.

There is no logical explanation for the hiring of Braun over more qualified candidates. So that makes it fact?
