Vincent Coach: Tom Diener, 12th year. Key players: Marcus Landry, 6-6, sr.; Billy Mimis, 5-8, sr.; Elliott Johnson, 6-7, jr.; Nick Polk, 6-0, sr.; Javon Campbell, 6-1, sr.; Wilethon Boyce, 6-0, sr. Outlook: And to think, another three or four players could be key contributors for a Vincent team already touted as one of the best in the nation. Landry, a Wisconsin recruit, will share the post with Johnson, a transfer from Milwaukee Messmer. Johnson was the MVP of the Midwest Classic Conference as a junior. “They just got three bona fide kids that transferred over (from Messmer),” King’s Gosz said. “Any weaknesses they may have had, they patched up.” But like all Diener-coached teams, the Vikings must think defense first if they expect to live up to the hype. www.jsonline.com/sports/prep/nov04/279393.asp

Elliott (James) Johnson is currently listed as one of the top 62 unsigned seniors in the country by Bill Hodge of Rivals.com and CollegeBasketballNews.com. Last night, Elliott had 13 points and seven rebounds as Milwaukee Vincent fell to Seattle Prep, 60-54 in Fort Meyers, Fla. Elliott has been offered a scholarship by UWM and is reported to be highly interested.

I tell you what, Vincent plays a heck of a schedule for a high school........ Trying hard not to say it ... biting my tongue ... Ah, screw it. Vincent's schedule might be more challenging than Marquette's. Whew, that felt better.

I've heard some rumblings that grades could be a serious issue with Elliott. This may be what is stalling this process out.

Johnson does it again... www.jsonline.com/sports/prep/dec04/286284.aspGreat player. I wish we could have signed him early. He will be targeted my many schools in the next period. Hopefully UWM can stay in the mix. I hate to say it, but I wonder if he held out on purpose? He had to know that this year was going to be a great senior season...his stock is rising quickly. Later, UWMfreak

Vincent's Johnson may head to prep school Posted by: Mark Miller Date: 01-20-2005
The February issue of the Wisconsin Basketball News will include a front-page cover story on the top players in the state by class.
One of the elite players in the class of 2005 is Milwaukee Vincent's Elliot Johnson, who transferred to Vincent after playing at Milwaukee Messmer as a junior.
The 6-foot-7 Johnson is ranked as the third-best senior prospect in Wisconsin by the WBN because of his athleticism, length and skill.
Johnson is being heavily recruited by a number of junior college programs, including Chipola of Florida, but may instead wind up attending Hargrave Military Academy in Virginia, according to Vincent coach Tom Diener.
Former Vincent forward Terry Sanders attended Hargrave for one year before helping Marquette to a Final Four appearance in 2003.
Meanwhile, Diener says senior guard Marques Chambers is beginning to attract the attention of several NCAA Division I programs, including Montona State. Hutchinson Junior College has offered Chambers a full scholarship, but Diener believes the 6-foot-1 shooting guard has an excellent shot at qualifying and earning a scholarship to a four-year school.
Vincent senior forward Quentin Barfield has missed the entire season with a knee injury and Diener was unsure if he'd be able to return to action in 2004-05.
Finally, senior guard Javon Campbell has decided to leave the Vincent team. Campbell averaged 10 points and three rebounds per game as a junior on a squad that went 23-3.

I think it'll be prep or JUCO for Elliot, from what I hear. He's a heck of a talent, though.
