I understand that what I wrote there is a stretch. I'd probably write it differently right now, but I'm not gonna go back and edit or delete it or anything. I'll own the words.
When it comes down to it, we're about to be looking for a new head coach. Again. Slice it any way you like, but the moment LaVall Jordan officially becomes the Butler coach is the moment the March 2016 firing of Rob Jeter officially becomes an unequivocal disaster.
Whether you wanted it to happen or not, the decision to fire Jeter - rather than let his contract run out and replace him in spring 2017 - as well as the subsequent bungling of everything afterward destroyed this basketball program.
It could be many years before we get back to Jeter level. Buckle up, Panthers. We're in for a rough ride under the best of circumstances should Jordan go to Butler this week.

Wait -- we lost three high D1 senior players, watched our attendance collapse to historic lows and watched our record crash to 11 wins. But the firing only becomes an unequivocal disaster if our current coach leaves?

Wait -- we lost three high D1 senior players, watched our attendance collapse to historic lows and watched our record crash to 11 wins. But the firing only becomes an unequivocal disaster if our current coach leaves? In the immortal words of Marty Feldman -- "Too late." I mean there's no argument against it anymore. We've spent over a year arguing with people about this, but when Jordan takes the Butler job there's no argument. Every argument in support of Braun's decision was open-ended based on what LaVall Jordan's tenure would be. I firmly believe that if LaVall Jordan had a few more years, he would do well. I don't know how well, but I believe. Once he leaves, however, that's it - his tenure is over. All the optimism about what this young, positive, energetic leader of men can do goes to Butler with him. What we're left with is the wonderful leadership Amanda Braun. Do you think she has spent the last year colluding with a coach to be her handpicked replacement for LaVall Jordan?

Would Billy Donlon ever come here after the way things played out last March? If Lavall tells others he had a good relationship with Amanda then what happened between her and Rob is something that happened between her & Rob. No one's denying LJ has a better opportunity ahead of him at Butler but if his relationship with her is fine, the rest is just down to personal opinion.

He should be one of the top candidates, but will he? On the other side of the coin, would Amanda want to put strain on her relationship with another AD in the conference?

Serious question: Why would Billy Donlon, who got unceremoniously fired after a good run at Wright, decide to coach for an AD who unceremoniously fired a coach who had a BETTER run at Milwaukee?

Brandon Miller was away from Butler for 5 years when he got the head coaching job in 2013. I might be splitting hairs as he was a Butler guy no doubt. He had a failed tenure as well. Not sure what if anything that means for Jordan. I think Jordan is tremendous, long term he will be tough to keep, I hope you don't lose him now. Nope, I was wrong. Yes, Miller is "part of the family" but he wasn't promoted from the current staff to HC so that's my mistake. Actually, Miller was on staff when promoted to Head Coach. He became an assistant in April 2013, replacing Matthew Graves who left for South Alabama. When Stevens left in July 2013, Miller was promoted and he hired Chris Holtmann to fill the open assistant spot.

A bit out of the box but a highly successful D 3 coach with good local ties...Gary Greszk...not sure of spelling but could he be a Bo Ryan in the rough? Not an assistant who never was a head coach like Jeter, but a proven coach albeit at D 3 level.

Slice it any way you like, but the moment LaVall Jordan officially becomes the Butler coach is the moment the March 2016 firing of Rob Jeter officially becomes an unequivocal disaster. After firing Rob Jeter, the program hired a coach who has possibly received an offer to coach at BUTLER after 1 season. Had Thad Matta not been weirdly fired in the middle of June, Jordan would still be our coach. I think most on here agree the program was headed in the right direction with Jordan as our head coach. I won't say firing Jeter was a disaster because I believe the coach that replaced him is/was better. Hell, apparently he is good enough to have a program like Butler give him the keys to their program. In any event, this sucks. I was really looking forward to the 17-18 season with the current roster along with the recruits coming in. Flame Away.
