Men's basketball top 10?
1, March, 2005 victory over B.C. (and a ticket is punched to the Sweet 16)
2, March, 2005 victory over Alabama (program's first Division 1 NCAA Tournament victory)
3, March, 2006 victory over Oklahoma (third NCAA Tournament victory and fourth over a ranked opponent)
4, March, 2003 victory over Butler ("For the first time ever, UWM is goin' to the dance.")
5, March, 2005 victory over Detroit (without which, there would have been no Sweet 16)
6, March, 2006 victory over Butler (arguably the team's finest all-around performance of the last five years)
7, Feb., 2002 victory at Butler (the program's first victory over a ranked Division 1 opponent)
8, Dec., 1992 victory at Wisconsin (there wasn't one before and there hasn't been one since)
9, Jan., 1993 OT victory over UWGB (to that point, it was the largest crowd in program history — by over 3,000)
10, Feb., 2003 Senior Night victory over UIC (as far as anyone can recall, the first time UWM students rushed the court)

By grouping all the sports together, you're probably tackling an impossible task. Here's one for the list: The March, 1997 men's basketball victory over Wright State, the program's first postseason victory in NCAA Division 1. Wow, Dylan.......that's pretty impressive, that one even slipped my mind (and win's in that era were very hard to come by). If I remember correctly, WSU played a zone and we dropped more than a few threes on them. ).

For old time's sake, someone post that video of McCabe dunking against CSU on here and YouTube. Awesome.

Just so any of you know, the sports section is going to debate these games tonight.
If you want to add any insight, now is the time to do it. We'll have everyone's ideas printed out, so if you post on here, you will have a say.
Next Monday they'll be in the Post.

The win at Madison was a great game as was a UWGB game at home I believe that same season where Craig Green had a tip-in or dunk at or near the end of the game.
That Bama and BC games should be on there somewhere and mention should go to Tony Sannah (sp?) who I believe is the only UWM player to play on a world cup team?

What about our soccer team's win in the NCAA on the West Coast two years ago and then the overtime loss at #1 seed Santa Barbara?

I'm still looking into soccer, trying to weed out the different ones.

Why not wait until December of this year to make a list. Then we can put UWM beating both the Badgers and the Gold on the list!

Due to the more recent success of the men's basketball program, the 1992-93 season has become a bit more irrelevant, but two games that season - the win at Madison (UWM's only win against UW) and the win at home against a very good (NCAA tourney bound) UWGB team - really helped put this program back on the map. Now, between then and Bo Ryan becoming the head coach, there wasn't much to talk about. But those two games definitely stand out in my mind. Yes, the win at UW (77 - 72) on Saturday, December 13, 1992 was HUGE and the victory over Dick and Tony Bennett's team at the Mecca on Saturday, January 13, 1993 was electric (attendance: 8,631).
Since i first came across this thread, i've been wracking my brain trying to remember the victory over GB. Seems to me that the Panthers had to come up with a pretty furious rally at the end of the second half. i'm not able to call the mind the exact deficit, but it was a pretty significant, and they had less than a minute to close the gap.
i remember thinking, "They're not gonna be able to come back" and putting my jacket on and beginning to head for the exit. And then they did come back. So i sat back down and watched the Panthers win.
Electric is a very good word to describe the atmosphere at that game. It was largest attendance at a home men's basketball game for a long time, and many of those in attendance were UWGB fans. It was LOUD.

I remember that game. The West side of the arena was pretty much filled out. Someone hit a long three as time expired to send it into OT. There was a great picture of the fans jumping up as the it went in in the Journal the next day.

You are right! GB had about a 10 point lead, but could not make its foul shots down the stretch. After Craig's tip-in the game went into OT when Marc Mitchell took over. This all happened during the 92/93 season. It was still winter break when the game was held, but nevertheless a large crowd attended (a lot of GB fans!). This was the first time I really felt a college basketball atmosphere for a Milwaukee home game and this game is still one of my favourite moments of Panther athletics history.
