Not a surprise, with fan restrictions. Fortunately the team isn't folding

The MASL plans to play this season, as soon as Dec. 31, with fewer teams (The Monterrey Flash and Soles de Sonora previously were granted sabbaticals.)
“I get it. I understand, but it sucks,” said Wave all-star Ian Bennett, who heard of the decision a couple of days before the announcement.
“Going on, I want to play still … but this is probably the worst part: I’m obviously not going to wear a Wave uniform and I’ll probably be in a different color uniform, and that’s going to hurt.”
Bennett, 37, said he expected a handful of Wave players to join other teams for the season, but he plans to return to the city and team that’s been his home since 2009.
The MASL has said it intends to have a season with the target of playing as soon as Dec. 31. The Monterrey Flash and Soles de Sonora previously were granted sabbaticals.
Admirals President Jon Greenberg said the team was awaiting guidance from the American Hockey League on plans for a season and was “hopeful” it would not find itself in a similar situation. One big difference is the Admirals players are actually under contract to the NHL’s Nashville Predators.
“What that means in the long run … how they might be able to make this happen here would be really an important part of the discussion,” Greenberg said. “Two hundred fifty people, if it was just an Admirals business decision, it would be certainly very, very difficult for us to do.”

The MASL announced in early December that 11 clubs intend to participate in a modified 2021 regular season: Baltimore, Dallas, Florida, Harrisburg, Kansas City, Ontario, Rochester, San Diego, St. Louis, Tacoma and Utica. Also previously announced, Mesquite, Milwaukee, Monterrey, Sonora and Turlock will sit out the upcoming campaign.

only 7 teams played in the season. and all 7 made the playoffs. the Sockers and fury were the last 2 teams standing. with San Diego taking the title 2-1 in a deciding mini game.

Also, after a nationwide search and thorough vetting process the Major Arena Soccer League has selected JP Dellacamera, Shep Messing and Keith Tozer to lead the league moving forward. A former MISL player and coach, Tozer will serve as MASL Commissioner. Former NY Arrows goalkeeper Messing will become the league's first Chairman, and Dellacamera, once the TV voice for the original MISL, will become the league's president of communications/media.

my dad played soccer with Tozer in college , in New York State. I've met him on a few occasions. GREAT soccer coach, much of the Waves history of success is due to him , his coaching staff and the players he had play for them.

12 teams, 3 divisions. figure that there will be something like 8 teams in the playoffs. 3 division winners, 3 second place teams and 2 3rd place teams. glad to have the Wave back.

“Thanks to a new one-year lease agreement with Panther Arena, we can get back on the turf,” noted Milwaukee Wave owner Mike Zimmerman. “I think our entire organization looks at this season as a chance to defend our championship after an unforeseen interruption.”
New lease agreement that is a one year deal. Seems odd to me.

I would imagine the new deal is to give them a bigger cut of conce4ssions during wave games, or something like that. they do have a lost year to make up for financially.

Wave win again 8-6 and sit in the last playoff spot with 1 to play. they could get as high as 7th with a win in the finale and help elsewhere.
