I believe the NBDL All Star game is now part of the whole NBA All Star weekend for the first time.
Time for an NBA team to notice Clay and sign him!

Did you notice who will be coaching his All-Star Team?
Sir Sid is the Head Coach and Paul Mokeski is an assistant.
(For you youngin's, "Sir Sid" is Sidney Moncrief.)

Wasn't Mokeski the guy that got arrested for coke about 6 or 7 years ago? Former Milwaukee Bucks center Paul Mokeski was charged Wednesday in Ozaukee County Circuit Court with misdemeanor cocaine possession. Mokeski has been ordered to appear before Ozaukee County Circuit Judge Tom R. Wolfgram Aug. 10 to answer the charge. He could be sentenced to up to one year in jail and fined $5,000 if convicted. He was also issued municipal citations for drunken driving and speeding. Mokeski, who played for the Bucks from 1982-'89, was arrested early on the morning of June 9 by Thiensville police on suspicion of drunken driving. He was booked into the Ozaukee County Jail at 4:05 a.m. according to jail records. While Mokeski was being searched at the jail, deputies found a folded paper with "a white powdery substance which appeared to be cocaine," according to the charge issued by District Attorney Sandy Williams. "It was confiscated from Mr. Mokeski and after advising him of his rights, he indicated it was cocaine that was in the folded paper and he had paid $100 for the cocaine," the charge says. Mokeski told the deputies that "he had snorted a couple of lines of the cocaine about an hour before he was stopped by police," the complaint says. "He also indicated that he uses cocaine on a regular basis."

On assignment: Mensah-Bonsu named All-Star MVP
LAS VEGAS, February 17, 2007 – On assignment from the Dallas Mavericks, Fort Worth Flyers forward Pops Mensah-Bonsu made the inaugural Gillette D-League All-Star Game in association with 24 Hour Fitness his personal showcase Saturday, leading the East to a 114-100 victory on Center Court at NBA All-Star Jam Session presented by adidas at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.
The rookie from George Washington scored 30 points and collected seven rebounds on his way to being named Most Valuable Player. Mensah-Bonsu converted 11-of-13 field goal attempts as the East shot a blistering 55-percent from the floor.
"I tried to play as hard as I could, which is the only way I know how to play," said Mensah-Bonsu, who was the only player assigned from an NBA team in the game. "When they said I made the team, I was back with the Mavericks and I told them that I really wanted to play in this game. It wasn't about winning the MVP, it was about getting to be with these great players."
Mensah-Bonsu’s Fort Worth teammate Luke Schenscher came off the East bench to make 6-of-8 field goal attempts, score 15 points and grab six rebounds. Renaldo Major of Dakota had 14, Arkansas’ Clay Tucker 13 and Tulsa’s Alan Anderson scored 10 for the East.
Colorado center Elton Brown, one of four 14ers in the game, scored 16 and had six rebounds to lead the West. Los Angeles point guard Brian Chase contributed 15 points. Albuquerque’s Dijon Thompson and Pooh Jeter of Colorado each scored 14, while Rick Rickert of Colorado had 13 and Anaheim’s Jawad Williams 11 to round out double-figure scoring.
“It was a fun experience. As far as basketball, we just wanted to come out here and have fun,” Tulsa and East point guard Will Conroy said. “You don't get to prove much with the substitution patterns, you just want to keep the game sharp and make sure you sell some tickets for next year so the fans want to come back again.”

It was great to see Clay play again. I miss seeing that long stride and stutter step. I just gotta believe someone will give him a shot. From the little of the game I saw (and from what I have read) it looks and sounds like Clay is handling the ball a lot more, almost like a point guard. Good luck Clay!

The game was free on iNHD yesterday at least in the Milwaukee area if you subscribed to Time Warner's basic HD package. At the start of the 4th quarter, Tucker looked so smooth and knocked down shots effortlessly. The announces pointed out that Clay has been asked to play more at the Point and responded by averaging something around 9 assists in the last 3 or 4 games. The East team clearly outplayed the West and Mensah-Bonsu, Tucker and Schenscher were the best players on the floor yesterday.

Gotta hold out hope that he will get his shot in the NBA soon...sounds like he is certainly deserving of it.
