Screw it bring in Eastern Michigan as the 11th HL school and play 20 conference games. That would avoid the 2 to 3 non division one games every in the league is playing.

This and I'd be fine with their addition IF they either drop football altogether or moved to the Pioneer League in the FCS and used some of the savings to invest to further invest in men's basketball. EMU obviously wouldn't be a "name" addition like if we landed Belmont & Murray State but they provide protection for the conference in case the league is poached by future realignment. As of now, we have all the leverage in the decision for their addition so making sure they spend competitively should help the league overall. I think our only realistic hope for YSU is the potential opening in the MAC could make them a candidate. No current FBS team would realistically leave their current conference to join which means another team will have to be move up. YSU obviously fits perfectly geographically and Jim Tressel as the university president could hopefully influence the Ohio schools to persuade the rest of the conference to allow admittance. |

Not surprised with their response. They would be incredibly stupid to say anything else without a backup plan in place. Plus, it would be absolutely terrible timing for all players, coaches & support staff. This doesn't mean they won't send feelers to LeCrone if they begin having doubts in the next year or two.

You are more likely to see EMU start dropping men's sports before dropping football and moving to another conference. Likely candidates include baseball, soccer, track and wrestling, sports which D1 schools have dropped over the past few years or haven't offered in many years, if at all.
