It was scrappy and not the prettiest thing in the world but it's a win so I'll take it.

A nine-point conference win?
Beautiful!
League play is just a different animal.

Was plenty pretty to me. 46% from the field, 36% from 3, 30 free throws to NKU's 8, 14 blocks. Plus we held Hollins to 2 points over the last 17 or so minutes of the game during our big run. NKU committed 7 turnovers in the whole game, which is how they kept it close, but they shot 35% from the field.

We ended up at 46% shooting after starting 0-10!
The guys did a great job finding the next gear after a very slow start. You could tell there was a hangover from Wright. I thought Coach Jeter did a great job with his subs and rotations tonight, especially late managing Matt Tiby after some really questionable calls almost took him out of the game.
Anyone notice that Oakland lost to Youngstown tonight!? That is really big for us!

They had the highlights on Fox Sports Live last night, of YSU tip-in at the buzzer at Oakland.

Good, tough win. We did not play our best but fought through it even with that one ref having something against Tiby it seemed. NKU reminds me a bit of Cleveland State and Gary Waters in regards to there on the ball defending and pressure, they seem like a formidable member to the HL. It's crazy the different and more efficient team we are when we get out and run on the break!

Great win, but I am starting to sense a trend of starting out slow. At least we finished strong this game. If NKU had the talent of Wright St, this might have been a different game. McCloud is a stud. Athletic with a good head. I echo that he should almost be starting, but I'll take Horizon 6th man OTY

Maybe Quan should start in order to avoid falling behind big early?

Players have got to understand that the threes aren't always gonna fall. You can hear Jeter banging on them about it in the huddle, he's loud enough. They'll get much better looks and a higher percentage if more 3PT attempts come from drive-and-kicks by the Milwaukegan guys. That slow start due to heavy three-point shooting is one of the biggest reasons we lost both the South Dakota and Wright State games. The Panthers have to work the inside-out game better.

We only shot 14 threes which seems much lower than our average...I think the scouting report is out on us to man up on the perimeter which is exactly what NKU did to limit our threes. And several of those three attempts were bad shots/ill advised or defended well. I do agree too many is a bad thing, especially early,..unless they are good looks....I mean look at the Minnesota game.

I don't understand how Cody can play 17 minutes (much of it towards the end of the game) and no one would give him the ball when he was wide open for three. Cody has proven to be damn effective from outside (48.6%) so why not give him the ball and let him hit a big shot? Austin is obviously a great shooter, but he's in a funk as evidenced by his 33% shooting from outside. There's no excuse for Wichmann to not be given the green light to shoot anytime he is open. He's the kind of guy that can hit two or three in a row and give us a little breathing room when we need it.
In any event, great win. Let's keep it rolling this month as we'll be pretty busy the next few weeks!

I see everyone failed to mention that NKU had a not-so-secret weapon on their bench: The great Ronald Nored of Butler.
