I hate the idea of the shot clock being reduced. It's short-attention-span basketball that rewards teams unwilling or unable to focus and defend.

could be worse. could be 24 like the pros have. shot clock used to be 45 seconds, as well, this will be the second time its been shortened

This is long overdue and a great idea. I think they could even go to a 28 second shot clock, but the women's game and international play has a 30 second shot clock, so this is long overdue. We don't need to see guys dribbling and the top of the key, then run the offense.
As for the bigger circle, I'm for anything to stop this flopping around the rim.

I think they could go to a 24-second shot clock, play blaring music during the action and have a screaming lunatic on the PA, drop all kinds of memorabilia from the ceiling, have a 5-minute national anthem and 15-minute introductions, have one guy completely dominate the ball on offense and outlaw zone defenses altogether!

All that boring strategy stuff just gets in the way. And defense? Who needs it? Let's just have dunk and three point contests.

If any team goes 25 seconds into the shot clock they have put together a bad possession 95% of the time. Half a minute is more than enough time to develop a possession and create a good look. Slow pace is quite frankly killing college ball; the NBA is becoming an all-around superior product and outside of March fan disinterest is growing. Speeding up the game is good.

Most have said the NBA is the best sport out there (CFB, MLB, NFL, CBB) that has the best entertainment during timout for it's fans. I went to the Bucks home opener (first game in years) and it was big time noticeable.

"Speed up" college kids and you might not like what you see ... at all.
The most marvelous possession I can recall had 13 passes and ended in an A.T. triple against Boston College, paving the way for a Sweet 16 berth.
For many of us, 35 seconds allows the sport to be team basketball rather than entertainment.

Don't know guys dripping the ball 35 feet away for 15 seconds before they start to run the offense, is basketball.

The only role sport plays is entertainment. If you prefer sports to not be entertaining I don't know what to tell you.

If all you want is least common denominator entertainment then why not develop a league that has strippers having dunk contests off trampolines while playing Beyonce tunes on kazoos? (Granted, the NBA is probably only a few years away from that.)
I go to movies and plays when I want to see dramatized stories or comedies. I go to concerts when I want to hear live music. I go to college basketball games because I want to watch the excitement and strategy of athletic sporting competition. Anything that dumbs down those contests dramatically erodes their entertainment value for me.

So, a 30 second shot and 4 foot arch will dumb down the contests? Something needs to be done about the sport we love. Scoring is down to historical lows. Attendance is down and tv ratings are down.

Attendance is down everywhere post-recession. (And by the way, building mega-arenas with elevated ticket prices will not really help that problem in the long run.) The sport we love is just fine. I watched all or parts of at least a dozen college games this weekend. Every one had great houses and fun atmospheres. I'm all on board to adjusting the timeout rules to reduce the choppiness late in games. But reducing the shot clock takes us towards the NBA model of shoot, aim, ready. No thanks.

To each it's own, to avoid going in circles.
