According to the announcers, Milwaukee won the Horizon League tournament last year and had a great run - beating Alabama and Boston College. Hmmm. Someone must have misread the Wikipedia page.

Dave Armstrong the play by play man worked for years doing Big 8/Big 12 games on the regional ESPN+ games. The other guy is so old, he is talking about how he doesn't like the shot clock.

We're gonna need a solid 2nd half to win this one.

This ASN is very poor. Just did a stat listing the last 5 years regular and tournament championship in the HL. In 2011 and 2012 they listed them as all going to the ncaa tourament.

It has gotten to the point where I didn't even know that there was a game today or that it was on tv.

At this point it's obvious we will see a lot of losses this year. We just don't have the horses. JJ has disappeared. That's on both him and the coaches, but the bottom line is that he had a huge opportunity this year and simply hasn't done what it takes to take advantage of it. Great kid but I guess he's just not really interested in reaching his potential in the sport. Don't know how else to read it. At this point Coach might as well give his minutes to Brett and be done with it.
Notwithstanding the situation I'm really proud of the effort we see from Matt, Steve and JR. Those guys are leaving nothing on the court. A season like this reveals character, and they are showing it.
One of the things that really hurt us today is that Cody is in a terrible shooting slump. He's our only significant threat from 3 with Austin and Brock not playing, so if he's not hitting we are really hamstrung offensively. But at least he's playing hard. Finally saw some spark out of Akeem today. It would really help if he could keep that going.
Overall I was happy with the way we kept fighting in the second half. Couldn't close the gap because our defense was porous and frankly Detroit was making great shots. And Juwan Howard was just phenomenal. Great player.
It would be nice to say the cavalry is on the way, but it's not true. We have a lot of talent coming in next year with Austin, Brock, Scotty, Jayquan and some others. But for this year the guys we saw today are pretty much the guys who are going to have to figure it out. I hate for this to happen when we have a senior point guard who works as hard as Steve does. I hope the other players see that leadership and respect it. He will be damn hard to replace next year.
I actually really enjoyed the color commentary on the broadcast today by Bob Donewald. Many of you are probably too young to remember but he was a very good coach at Illinois State. He almost got the Wisconsin job at one point. Bob Knight disciple.

And let me say this for next year:
The Panthers had better find a juco big who's ready to go out of the chute.
They certainly don't have one now.

Only gave up 83 points today. Gave up 84 in each of the three games prior.
It's the little things.

Plenty of raw, unbridled passion from friends who no longer post on this forum.
My friend Antonio seemed especially upset. "La Puerta esta abierta," he yelled. "LA PUERTA ESTA ABIERTA!!!"
Now I don't speak Spanish, but if I understand correctly, he's ready to jump ship.
