That guy has good sources. I've been sitting on that one for a while. He's a very good prospect. Body type a little bit like Avery. Kid is from the same general area as Akeem. Heard he wants to be close to home. Frankly it's a much easier trip to Milwaukee and to the Arena than it would be to UIC and the Pavilion or Depaul and the Allstate.

That's a good get for Jeter and co. McCloud and Jordan as your lead guards will be darn good going forward.

I'm told that there will be some more good news on the recruiting front coming soon.

While I know that Rob is not exactly John Wooden (as the history of my posts on this board have stated)lets give credit where it is due. Next year our guard corps will have Justin Jordan, Jayquan McCloud, J R Lyle, Akeem Springs and others ...Jordan Johnson? Brock Stull....Front court will have Matt Tiby, Austin Arians back, Scotty Tyler, Panoske, the Prahls, Trinson White?, probably another big...that is a pretty deep and formidable roster for a Horizon League team...I agree somewhat with Fran that Rob has had a lot of challenges given the facilities issue including lack of practice faciltiy which is brutal and the revolving AD situation. I still think we can and should have done better. Product too lackluster at times, uninspipring style and Public Relations but also can and could have done worse. Overall, mediocre but felt saw some real growth finally last year with Rob getting his team to win the big games and get to the NCAA so he showed it can be done under his watch. I do not recommend an extension but neither do I think at this point he should be jettisoned which is a big change from my past opinion up until last years big. The APR thing was tough but kind of a perfect storm and I think we should all move on from that. Lets get this darn arena thing off our backs and I think next year could be a lot of fun and potentially special. Steve

Why did this come out so late? It was on the Panthers site the other day, than Todd followed.

I have no idea why yuhayden would say what he did but it really ticks me off. Jayquan is a terrific recruit and it's not as though he fell in our lap by accident. We followed him in high school but he committed to Murray State. When he decided Murray State was not for him the connection was still there and our guys closed the deal to bring him to Milwaukee. (Let me give you another example of the same thing happening: Joah Tucker. Was that different?)
But I guess the fact that Rob and his coaches identify and recruit good local players in high school and make a good enough impression that even some of those who go elsewhere first eventually come back to UWM makes those recruits "clowns" and our roster a "clown car." As steve noted we have a really excellent group of guys -- many of them young guys -- on our roster next year.
The bottom line is that while some of our fans are quitters, our coaches and players sure haven't quit. That's why they have won four in a row at home even though those sour fans think we have "nothing to play for." That's why great young recruits like Jayquan are still joining the program.

It appears to me that there will be a lot of talent on next year's roster, but we sure could use a Division 1-ready big man to complement the wealth of talent at other positions. Then if only they would leave our Arena alone, we'll be in great shape!
