Actually printed in the Journal-Sentinel today:
"So the Bucks billionaires want to knock down the storied, 90-year-old Journal Sentinel building for their new arena. How about City Hall? How about St. John Cathedral?"
Who wants to knock down what buildings again?

Not sure the Journal building is storied. It isn't even aesthetically pleasing. No one would miss it.

Least of all the high - ranking officials of Journal Communications. And they might even turn a pretty dime in the process.

I don't think I've read this on this board, so I apologize if I'm repeating this. The agreement between the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the Wisconsin Center District for the naming rights of the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena contains a clause that allows either the school or the district to terminate the agreement if the facility is designated as the site for a new arena. According to Don Walker from the Journal Sentinel "the district can end the agreement if the site is designated as the site for a new arena." www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/265537621.html

That just saves uwm's ass for the money that they paid for naming rights, but doesnt change the fact that we would once again be without an arena other than the high school gym sized KC, which I might remind you, doesn't even fulfill the conferences minimum seating rule.

Neither does Oakland's O'rena. Look, there would be a lot of problems arising from a relocation back to the Klotsche Center, but getting kicked out of the Horizon League isn't one of them.

Frank is quite adamant about protecting UWM's interest. He is a good ally to have here.

This is exactly where the fight is. It needs to be addressed. These two New Yorkers are not going to come in and change all that exists. UWM, Marquette, The Admirals, The Wave, every school that has graduation, etc. etc. has a voice in this decision. Demolition of existing buildings because they need a new place to play their game is not a given. There are other games in town believe it or not. The Panthers are players in this game and let The Bucks know it.

Hind sight is 50/50 but finding it quite interesting that the bucks decided to break their contract in order to move out of offices in a building that they might now want to tear down...

The roller coaster of highs and lows that is this program is driving me nuts. Every good thing seems to be followed promptly with something absolutely defeating. Gahhh!

I think back to Miller Park. All the state had to do was give up the Hudson Dog Track for conversion to an Indian casino and a coalition of Indian Nations pledged to provide 100% of Miller Park construction funding. Tommy T said no, and we ended up with a ugly tax financing fight.
In my humble opinion, this all hinges on financial support. If the ownership group plus other outside interests can demonstrate that all or nearly all construction funding will come from private sources in exchange for acquisition of their desire arena site, I don't see how this can be stopped. No one wants another Miller Park battle.
