I'm hoping that this means that the more intrusive security checks last year are being replaced by these metal detectors. It seemed weird to me that there was no security check with Admirals games last year and that we had to have bags checked, empty pockets, open coats, spin around, etc. to enter Panther games (only at the UWMPA) last year. They had to stop the student from bringing in a hip flask of peach schnapps I look forward to having to explain I have a metal plate in my leg every time I go to a game. If you go to Miller Park & Fiserv Forum, you should have your plan down pat.

This is much better than the strip tease that had to be done in the late part of 2018 and to start last season. Warning at the end of the video, you might

It's becoming rare to find a stadium or arena that doesn't have metal detectors anymore, and they are a lot less intrusive than those searches last year. It sure sounds like the Athletic Department got a lot of complaints about the searches last year as it was specifically mentioned as something they received a lot of feedback on from season ticket holder surveys. I don't think metal detectors will keep many, if any, people from going to games, but I feel like those searches last year could have very well deterred people from coming back. I'll say for myself that I was a little embarrassed when I brought people to games with the searches last year. I figured it had to do with fans (mainly students) sneaking booze in, but it still makes no sense to me that those searches were done only at the arena and not at the Klotsche Center.

I know it's a small thing, but I'm glad they will use those walk-through metal detectors as opposed to the wands. It probably won't make a huge difference for Panther games (unfortunately), but it will make the process go at least a little quicker for larger crowds.

In order to create a safe and enjoyable experience for all guests, the following safety and security measures will be implemented at UWM Panther Arena for Panther Basketball games this season.
Upon entry, all guests will be required to have their bags checked and pass through a metal detector. Metal detectors are an effective method for Event Security to safely screen guests and prevent prohibited items from entering the building.
In order to increase the efficiency of these machines, guests are asked to keep the following guidelines in mind when attending an event: - Arrive early in preparation for additional security measures - Limit the number of personal items brought into the venue in order to expedite the screening process - Please reference the prohibited items list for items not allowed into the facilities. Prohibited Items List · Weapons of any type (firearm/ammo, knives of all sizes, bats, clubs, and scissors) · No open or concealed weapons/firearms, except in your locked motor vehicle · Explosives / fireworks · Self-Defense Sprays (OC, Pepper Spray and Mace) · Aerosol cans · Brooms/broomsticks, selfie sticks, poles, and tripods · Laser pointers · Large banners or flags signs (over 18” x 24”) · Backpacks, oversized bags, suitcases, and hard-sided bags of any kind · Food or drink of any kind (exception: medical, with previous approval by the WCD) · Cans & glass containers · Coolers or other hard sided containers · Masks of any kind · Noise makers (whistles, air horns) · Projectiles such as beach balls, frisbees, etc. · Any type of ball · Optical illusions (items such as pinwheels or multi-color umbrellas that can interfere with depth or distance perception) · Fireworks · Drones (unmanned aircraft systems) or model aircraft · Illegal substances · Beverages (in any type container i.e. glass or can) · Professional cameras (cameras with a detachable lens or lens that extends further than 3 inches), audio & video recording equipment, selfie sticks are not allowed. Standard point-andshoot "pocket" cameras may or may not be prohibited depending upon event restrictions. · Large umbrellas over 12 inches in length; golf umbrellas; umbrellas with pointed tips; multicolored umbrellas · Metal chains of any kind, including wallet chains
Once in the screening area: - Make sure you have your ticket in hand or the ticket app open to your tickets - Prepare for a bag check by Event Security - Place your cell phone, camera and purse in a basket on the screening table and prepare to walk through the metal detector - Guests will be subject to a secondary screening process if the alarm sounds when passing through the walk-through metal detector - An alternative security screening is available to guests who are: expectant mothers, wheelchair-bound or have a medical condition We thank you for your cooperation and look forward to seeing you at UWM Panther Arena this season.

Nice seeing the added touches. This is something the Admirals do on their gamedays. Well done!

I looked at the box scores of the other Horizon league games last night and we trailed all others in reported attendance by a significant margin.

I don't have the number, since they won't give it to me. I wouldn't give it to me. LOL. Yet, it's on par from last season I was told. The goal this year is to go after the weekend warriors. Also, trying to get group outings. Hence, all the new suite and group packages that are new this year.

Let’s hope that they can go on a non-conference run and generate some more interest. A competitive showing against Kansas and/or beating Bucky would be huge.

I do like the concession stands that have a 40 inch TV's for the menu. Clean, crisp look to it.
