Opening weekend, aka 2nd & 3rd round sites: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_NCAA_Men's_Division_I_Basketball_Tournament Distances per crashingthedance.com/distance.php 0 mi Milwaukee 318 mi St. Louis (aprox 5.5 hr drive) 463 mi Buffalo (aprox 9.5 hr drive) 690 mi Raleigh (aprox 13.5 hr drive) 1070 mi Orlando 1097 mi San Antonio 1467 mi Spokane 1736 mi San Diego It is still possile we get stuck with one of the four (out of six total) 16 seeds that are sent to the "play-in" games at UD Arena in Dayton. In that case: First Four site- 399 mi Dayton (aprox 6 hr drive) If we can't get Milwaukee, PLEASE basketball gods, let us get St Louis so that as many of our fans can go as possible! Btw, has anyone learned whether or not what Coach Jeter said is true about there being a "50 mile" rule? Because apparently it's been repeated quite often on the radio the last 48 hours. Can we, or can't we play at the Bradley Center?

www.ncaa.com/content/di-principles-and-procedures-selectionWhile I can't find a 50-mile rule by quick glance, I did see this ... On Page 4: "To recognize the demonstrated quality of such teams, the committee shall not place teams seeded on the first four lines at a potential 'home-crowd disadvantage' in the second round." ... so I guess that would take care of that.

Man, that would be a rough turnaround for you if you went to the evening games at the BC on Thursday, and Milwaukee plays in the first game on Friday in St Louis!

I sold my Saturday for $175. So, yes I have and looking forward to both. If the Panthers get St. Louis, maybe it can be at night. I can't put any serious thought into it, untill 5pm Sunday. Jeter wants a warm weather site. I don't blame him.

The Badgers as a 6 could play Pitt here in '04 because Madison is more than 50 miles from the BC. Thanks to Hack for the p. 4 reference.

KU just lost to ISU. I'm going to be very speculative now. I'm going to assume KU drops to a 3. SOOO..,... unless we jump up to a 14 we will probably not go to St. Louis . (Wichita St. is the other seed to play there.) SO... getting your traveling shoes ready?

Can I just say how awesome it is to have this discussion instead of spending time defending coach Jeter's record?
My list:
1. Milwaukee - I want to be warm but I'd also like to keep my money in my pocket. Looks like this may be a moot point though.
2. San Diego - Please. Beach, San Diego State coeds...
3. Orlando - Epcot on the off day? Animal Freaking Kingdom?
4. San Antonio - Cheaper flight than 2/3 and still warm as hell.
5. St. Louis - Not as warm as Raleigh but an easy drive I've made many times (sister used to live there). I could act as a tour guide.
6. Raleigh - Warm, plus I relish the idea of heading checking out the Duke and UNC campuses.
7. Buffalo - Cold but driveable.
8. Spokane - Cold, long flight, long rental car drive after long flight.
I'd be happy anywhere 1-6 really.

To sum it up "f you are on the first 4 lines" you can play within 50 miles of your campus (unless it is your Home Court or you are the host (as is the case this year with San Diego St.)) If you are say a 15 seed you can not play within 50 miles of your campus. Thanks to Hack for the p. 4 reference.

Remember, second round back in 2004 would be considered third round today.
That manual references "second round" games. Those are the Thursday-Friday games.

Remember, second round back in 2004 would be considered third round today. That manual references "second round" games. Those are the Thursday-Friday games. Just another reason the new naming system is stupid. I don't care what anyone says. I will always refer to the Thursday/Saturday and Friday/Sunday games as the 1st and 2nd round. Calling it as if 60 out of 68 teams are getting a "bye" was one of the stupidest ideas the NCAA has ever had, and that's saying something. The First Four can be anything but I don't get why the NCAA didn't just stick with "Opening Round" as they always did for the original "Play-In game". I can see why calling them play-in games is not a good idea as well.

I'm begging for a Friday, since I tickets on Thursday for the Bradley Center. Please, St. Louis. I would assume they would air all ncaa games in the concourse. But I guess that isn't very fun and you're wasting a ticket.

Also, I don't want to put too much in Lunardis bracket. I don't think he is all that smart as people make him to be. But regardless, He has saint Louis as a 7 seed playing in St. Louis.
