Great, now when the Panthers get bumped for the circus or Disney on Ice, the seats and the video board will be state of the art.

I'm hoping the circus was scheduled before the Panthers agreed to terms to play at the US Cellular Arena this year. It's my understanding that events were planned before the deal to play at the Cell was in place, and that's why we had three games at the Klotsche Center this year.
From what I'm reading in all of those articles, it seems that the WCD is realizing how important the Panthers are to the future of the US Cellular Arena. The Wave is being sued for not paying their debts; that is never a good sign for a franchise's ability to survive in the long run. I'm not sure how well roller derby draws, but I can't imagine it's that great. If they lose the Panthers, how will the Cell stay relevant?
Maybe I'm wrong, but it sounds like the WCD is finally realizing how important the Panthers are to the future of the arena. I suppose they could schedule Disney on Ice or the circus during the Horizon League tournament or a motocross event during a conference game, but it just doesn't seem like the WCD is in the position where they can afford to do that anymore.

I second and third that. Imagine if we could become relevant enough to fill up the cell 4,000-5,000+ per game? It's not out of this world. I had the numbers on an old laptop, but we (without the Horizon League Tourney games) were averaging over 4,000/game in 2005 I do believe. Correct me if I'm wrong. In any case, any crowd at or near 4,000 at the Cell is a great environment... well, at least when the fans actually cheer and stop being afraid to GET LOUD! I wish I were in Green Bay tonight... 'Sure hope our Panthers are ready and can force a third match-up with our arch-rival. One. Game. At. A Time. On an unrelated note- so that's cool new seats will be UWM's Black and Gold. But if this is a 3yr/3-phase project, does that mean we will have Black Gold, Red and and Blue seats for a while? Hiopefully they start at the bottom (where most fans sit) and most or all blue/red seats can be the seats under the "tarps" that try to mask our out-sized arena and make sure people sit closer together.... How nice would it be to fill up the Cell again though like 2003, 2005, 2006, 2011... We've got 11,000+ seats. But we need a team- no, we need a long-term PROGRAM (a la UW and MU)- that can win consistently and draw crowds worthy of such a huge and legendary Arena. A lot of incredible stuff has happened in that building. And not just one of the first stateside Beatles concerts.... GO PANTHERS!!!! BEAT VALPO- Heck CRUSH VALPO!!!! It's Do or Die Time....

i'm confident the wave will get their debts settled, they've been around for 30 years and in indoor soccer where teams come and go every year , thats remarkable stability. i agree the panthers are necessary for the WCD, now we just have to pack in the fans.
