My biggest concern was the huge difference in athletes on the floor... CSU just was more athletic, fast, and fundamentally balanced. Now, this just could have been the klunker game for the season.. Still think we finish 3rd or 4th in conference. However, I am worried about the recruting of the program... Need more speed and athletes... I am hoping that is addressed. Never been a big Jeter guy, however I want to see how the season plays out before I say to much about him and his staff....

Attended my first game in two years: most glaring observation I made was the Cleveland State coaching staff vs. Milwaukee's. Cleveland State's staff was vocal throughout the contest while Milwaukee's was status quo: don't say a damn word! Nothing has changed and Jeter and his staff have not evolved or progressed. I am counting the days until he is no longer the coach of this team. I was a supporter in his first year, as many others on this board were. However, he has destroyed this program and couldn't continue its progression, but actually set us back circa 1999. He is incompetent and so are his coaches. I am a former head football coach and have never seen such an indifferent and lackadaisical coaching staff in my life: there is flat out "zero" in-game coaching going on and anyone that tells me different isn't watching the game. If Cleveland State came in and won by a few points, I could live with that, but they came in here beat the tar out of us and there is no excuse for that. Good riddance Rob Jeter! Gary Waters is a great coach. He did better than anyone else at Rutgers after Tom Young left for ODU.
My guess is that Rutgers regrets his firing.

It is discouraging to me with a 10-5 record that for ANY loss posters want to get rid of Jeter. Yes, last season was terrible. Let's see how this season completely plays out.

Glad to hear you're ok, Milwsport. Best wishes on a speedy and full recovery.
For those who care, this home loss moved Milwaukee's RPI/SOS from 99/251 to 112/235 (now 10-5 vs D-I). Cleveland State's RPI/SOS moved from 130/107 to 98/88 (now 7-7 vs D-I).

My concern remains with the "gong" games, especially those against a conference opponent at home.
It's one thing to lose on your home court to Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, North Carolina or some other program with vastly superior players, if you could somehow induce them into playing here. (For the record, you can't).
It's another thing to lose by nearly 30 to a league opponent with a pedestrian record (8-7) and a middling RPI (125).
During the previous regime (2000-05), the Panthers lost three games in similar fashion, all on the road against NCAA Tournament qualifiers and two against nationally ranked opponents. Does CSU fit either description? Probably not. And the game was here.
This happened seven times alone last season, three times on our home court. We're encouraged to leave last year behind, then this kind of debacle rears its ugly head again.
The players in this program come and go and still we're talking about gong games!

I hate to have to challenge you since you obviously know more about Milwaukee Basketball than I. BUT, if you are talking about 2000/2005 shouldn't it be regimes rather than regime. And why 2000 rather than 1999. 1999 was my first year here and Crean and Bo's first year as Head Coaches. Bo's last game was at Fairborn in whatever the conference that we were in's tournament. Pearl took over in 2001. Have no idea why team's have "gong" games, but I think it has to do with the emotional level of a coach; getting too down with a loss, too high after a win. I thought that was Walt Harris's problem as a head football coach at Pitt.

Obviously, the previous regime was 2001-05.
The program has been in the MCC/Horizon League since 1994-95. Before that, it spent one season in the Mid-Continent Conference (formerly the AMCU-8 and now the Summit).
I think the gong games have to do with the absence of motivation/focus, strategy and in-game adjustments.
The abundance of such games -- seemingly three or four per season -- are indeed disturbing.
