This likely puts us in the cellar for good. We can't beat the other 1-3 team in the league on our home court. Boy, we give up a crap load of points. I'm not sure what our defensive ranking is but it's got to be really bad. There's a lot of complaints about our offense but our defense is really terrible. That would be a great place to start when your offense isn't working.

Nice play out of a timeout. Un-f**king-believable. Believable. And so predictable.

Nice play out of a timeout. Un-f**king-believable. Third straight loss to Youngstown State in front of hundreds, while Butler plays to 10,000-plus in a top 15 matchup on ESPN and Gameday in the house. It's like Bizarro Superman. Superman's exact opposite, who lives in the backwards bizarro world. Up is Down. Down is Up. He says "Hello" when he leaves, "Good bye" when he arrives. Wouldn't it be bad-bye?

It's a very disappointing loss. After the timeout was called with 8 seconds left, I knew the game was over. Jeter has a knack for calling (terrible) 10 second plays with 8 seconds to go.
This may be a long season, but from my standpoint, there are some more encouraging things to see. First, Panoske and Arians are looking like solid players and could be solid contributors for years to come (that is, unless they leave like so many predecessors have). And I've said it earlier this year... I'd rather watch a bad team play their heart out and lose than a good team dog it and lose. The rotation that is set right now seems to be hungrier than the rotation used in the games prior to Cleveland State. Maybe they're not playing their hearts out, but I see them going for 50/50 balls a lot more than when it was seemingly always Kelm and Haarsma on the court. Finally, I know he still takes a lot of really stupid shots, but Jordan Aaron had another 8 assist night. It wasn't as good as the Cleveland State game, but at least he isn't trying to take the ball inside and have it blocked by a taller forward so much.
It's a disappointing loss; we'll probably be competing with Cleveland State, Loyola, and UIC (they have looked brutal lately) for a home Horizon League tournament game, but I'm enjoying the games more now.

In this game and the Valpo game, one thing that stood out was when on offense, we tended to dribble more, where as Valpo and YSU tended to pass more.

Looking at the stats for defense, it's kinda interesting: 232nd giving up 69.2 points/game 242nd giving up 44.0% shooting 6th in opposing 3 point field goal % giving up 27% It seems like we are always in the top part of defensive 3 point %...and its no different this year. Obviously the rest of the numbers are frankly terrible. I still think we should try and play some man defense once teams get hot from 3 (kind of like tonight), but for some reason Jeter only stays in the 3-2 or 2-3. Tonight, the middle of the zone got killed by #5 and him making a ton of mid range jumpers there. Still, I see improvement with the team especially with the benching of Kyle Kelm and the emergence of Arians, JJ and Haggs. Them, along with Jay O and Paris is our best lineup to put out there right now.

"But you yada yada'd over the best part."
"No, I mentioned the popcorn."
