I thought they were referring to the men's team getting Ricky Franklin, I was wrong.
UWM lands Riverside star By BOBBI ROQUEMORE broquemore@journalsentinel.com Posted: April 28, 2005
Milwaukee Riverside senior Turquoise McCain has signed to play women’s basketball at UW-Milwaukee, which made the announcement Wednesday.
McCain was part of a Riverside team that won the City Conference championship and reached the WIAA Division 1 state tournament for the first time since 1979. She averaged 13 points, nine rebounds, four assists and two steals per game.
“She has great skills at the off-guard position, but what sets her apart is her character,” UWM coach Sandy Botham said in a statement. “Turquoise is a great competitor with excellent leadership skills that she used to lead her team to the state semifinals.”
The 5-foot-10 guard becomes the fifth member of the Panthers’ 2005 recruiting class, which includes Emily Markert of Brookfield East, Kim Wypiszynski of Ashwaubenon, Traci Edwards of Menasha and Katie Fournier of Moline, Ill.
Milwaukee Pius senior forward Monique Burnham plans to walk on at UWM.

Hey, Pantherholic: I don't think any Division 1 program will be getting Ricky Franklin anytime soon.

McCain is a coup for WBB. The girl can flat out play and should bring alot to the table if her skills are utilized in the proper way. I am very happy about this acquisition. If Nichole Drummond is healthy and WBB can find an offense that WORKS as well as be versatile enough to switch it up during games when it dosen't, we may have a shot at causing a few upsets next season.
