www.greenbaypressgazette.com/sports/archive/sports_17625379.shtmlBorseth on UWGB's annual tournament: “When you're UWGB, you don't invite teams,” he said. “You put it out there every year. ..." Sorry, buddy, you may have dominated the Horizon League for the past 6-7 seasons, but NO mid-major school can ever get away with being that smug. Maybe that's why you're not having a tournament this year. Way to put it out there.

Hey, when you've been as deep in the NCAA tourney as they've been, people just flock to you....afterall, they are the packers....um, I mean, Phoenix.

With the exception of the new breed of UWM Panther Fans (well, apparently for now as I speak), it would be nice for the rest of the Wisconsin sports fans to see the UWGB Lady Phoenix to get into the Sweet 16 at least once.
Hack - are you sure you read the entire article carefully that you linked in your post, or even the whole Borseth quote? I don't think that program is smug, in fact far from it. More pissed than smug actually. UWGB will never get that elusive power to invite teams to their tournament, unlike the UConn and Tennessee teams can easily do. It is and always will be a crap shoot if UWGB can get 3 teams to come every year for their tournament, no matter how good or bad this team is for the forseeable future. Heck! It took who knows how long before the Lady Phoenix got to host and play a tournament up in Green Bay, even during and after their non-NCAA bid seasons. So I stress this (again) - no matter how good or bad this team is, for years and years to come, UWGB will not have the invite power.
That Lady Phoenix program will never be smug until they go deep into the NCAA, but if and when that happens, who knows.
From the angle as a long time Panther fan, I'd consider it lucky that teams like Northwestern, Iowa and Purdue were actually open and willing to play at the Klotsche. And is this true? Notre Dame and Penn State are scheduled to make Klotsche Center appearances within the next two years?

Botham is getting those games because of her connections. BTW, she played for ND.

Correct nohops, I knew played for the Irish. I guess I'm suprised that they haven't played ND already, given how long Botham has been coaching in Panther land. In the same token however, I think we all know how much ND athletic officials are stuck up or stiff @$$es about everything. If that weren't the case, Botham's squad would've played them already (here and in South Bend). Plus, ND Football would've been conference affiliated by now

Plus, ND Football would've been conference affiliated by now Marquette and Notre Dame have had a non-conference series going for about six seasons now so I'm guessing that may have been a reason - no need for two non-conference games in Milwaukee. But now MU and ND will be in the same conference so they will face each other during conference play and it frees up another spot in ND's non-conference schedule.
