Another thing kind of sad. Have seen in recent years more families taking their kids to the Cell not just on kids days either. They kids love it..has a big time feel, the scoreboard and most importantly room in the concourses to run around, stretch and makes a neat environment. I have a feeling a lot of families are not going to head up to the Klotsche to be sandwiches in cramped aisles where it is easy to trip and get hurt, few amenities including restrooms or concessions , longer lines accordingly. At the Klotsche kids can run around behind the bleachers on the end of the court whis is patently unsafe. There are so many things. Just seems Geiger may have come in and not really understand UWM and everything that has gone on in general. Just lousy unless for sure we are getting something better down the line and it is about time someone puts that on paper and we start moving forward or this is going down the tubes...nice - no way I am taking my grandson to the KC this year as I did at the Cell last year....sad

Update far from encouraging.....they are going to spend money on the frickin Klotsche?? Know $230,000 nothing to sneeze at but in the great scheme of things this is starting to sound like the plan is get a permanent waiver to play at Klotsch from HL and make improvements, ie lipstick on the pig. "Coming" back to the Cell may be for an MU or UW , HL tourney etc.. here they are talking about making minimal basic improvements to concessions etc and even SCOREBOARD OVER THREE YEARS!!!!!!! Whoope de doo...does that sound like a new arena is coming? Putting money into Klotsche?? Sounds to me like they are going to make KC a poor man's Gentile Center,,, no way that seats 5,000 and is really cheesy IMO...sounds like diminished expectations and a new era of mediocrity...UWM... prove an alum and passtionate true believer now not a believer WRONG and FAST!!!!!!l

oops... I was too optimistic...did not mention scoreboard...wow..this is really exciting....over three years but may not be in place for upcoming season ...ta da...new stantions and shot clocks...WOWEE WTF? sounds like years back when Bud Haidet as a tip off luncheon mentioned how excited he was that UWM was getting chairs for the players bench at KC with our logo on the back!!!!! Seems like old days are returning...Jeter will fit this mode perfectly

This is definitely a CF of emotions. On the one hand, I am glad not to have to take the transit buses to go to the Cell, but then again, the Cell was a good place to watch a game, at least better than the BC, plus its history, plus going to Goolsby's after a game.
I WANT to be optimistic that more student fans will come to the on-campus games, but too many of them simply don't care. After all, if they couldn't fill the KC with FREE tickets to Bob Saget, what will an just-above-mediocre basketball be able to draw?
As for Gimbel, he should have known that the end was near when he chose Disney on Ice over the HL tournament. Classic example of "you never know what you got until its gone."
All we can really do here is try to convince as many students as possible to go to the games, but we have to cross our fingers as much as we can. I have to have faith in Geiger, but it is a cautious faith. This is a big gamble and I'll be biting my lip hard on hoping this goes well.
The screws definitely need to be on Jeter now with, I think, one year left on his contract and home games moving to a home court that is definitely a step down from the Cell, it's all on him. If this team doesn't win the HL regular season and/or win the Tournament and make the NCAA, I don't think he will be coming back.
I'm just hoping right now that enough changes to the KC are made before the beginning of this season to convince me that Geiger is taking steps in the right direction, or I will be certain that the athletic department has become the Titanic and the last lifeboats are about to leave...
Wait, Watch...and maybe Pray...

Hope that is not why Geiger took a one year contract, ie, was he brought in to be the hatchet guy but then move on when the program is downgraded? With Costello gone and Koonce before would have been difficult to get anyone with longer term career aspirations in here to preside voer a funeral? :Hope that was not the case. Getting weird though every day

I think this is great!!! The same year UWM decides to implement an on-campus housing requirement for freshmen the athletics department brings basketball back to campus. UWM will have more students living on campus than ever before and basketball games will be easier to attend. Get ready for the UWM campus culture to change.
No more commuting to basketball games!!! No more attending basketball games online!!!

Getting weird though every day I was thinking this is the only reason he is there. Not to turn around the program but to get the program to scale back spending. My guess is that he'll have some say in hiring the next AD too.

I would say to the people who are upset, give it sometime. Let's hope that a plan comes out in the next 6 months or so. Tickets are cheap, so I'll still be buying my season-tickets.

What happens to the basketball floor that was used at the Cell? I hope they plan on adding new scoreboards at Klotsche...my high school gym has better scoreboards. The first thing my wife said was "We aren't going to be able see the individual points or fouls on the scoreboard?"
Also, I guess no more pre-game intro video for starting lineups!

I always thought the video intro was pretty cool. Many times you'd catch the opposing team watching too.

We aren't going to be able see the individual points or fouls on the scoreboard? That is a must! I can be without a videoboard.
