Complete embarrassment. Now I know why Rob keeps looking to leave.

Complete embarrassment. Now I know why Rob keeps looking to leave. Good point regarding Rob. The so called problems with Men's basketball seem pretty insignificant in comparison with the department as a whole. What a debacle.

And yet...the Panthers lead the race for the McCafferty Trophy by 20 points. So not everything is as bad as it seems...

I'd like to hear more info if anyone has it. The article seemed to focus on the men's soccer program. It sounds like the head coach was really a piece of work.

I heard a rumor last week that Costello had worn out his welcome and could be on his way out. This article at least brings some merit to the claim. Not sure if removing him is a good thing or bad thing. I think more personnel changes are needed in the department with the admin staff. Maybe the athletic director isn't the problem.

If true, the review is absolutely essential as the last two AD's flamed out in quick fashion. Embarassing to say the least.

Also, great timing with the supposed huge weekend of sought-after recruits coming in.

The Athletic Department has had significant problems long before Costello ever stepped foot on campus. It seems to me, to be a systematic problem within the entire Athletic Department. How many Athletic Directors are we going to go through before this is addressed as a systematic and cultural problem within the department as a whole and not mutually exclusive to the person who has the term "Director" in his/her title.

Blackandgold, hit it on the head. There is definitely a systematic and cultural problem within the department. There are only 3 or 4 administrators who get it. Something needs to change, shuffling through AD's is not the answer. The AD needs to have the power to come in and make changes.

Get your Inside membership on PantherU and you'll be well aware of what's going on. More than the JS has been able to report.
It's "Inside PantherU" for reasons I mention in the post.
