Everyone is aware that if we win, the students will come.
This thread should be named "How To Get Students To Care Even When Were Not Winning."

ok so i have been reading the boards for some time now.
I have been thinking if there is away to have a fundraiser type cook out by the dorms over labor day weekend to tell about all the athletics, IMO this will spark intrest to the students at the dorms, and at the same time raise some money for the athletic departmen.

We should get more students involved by having them check out this board. All the complaining and pessimism posted on here is the perfect reason why more people should join the bandwagon.

I'd take it one step farther and create some sort of basketball booster club and assist the athletic department in getting the word out about the games.

Let me know how I can help We're getting together a street team of 20-25 students for next semester...we'll be talking and planning over the summer, and next year we're going to be doing a bunch of time with school spirit functions to get students excited about bball. We need at least that much, because we're going to have to make it seem like the entire campus is waiting for bball to start.

I think...in order to get everyone new interested UWM Athletics...we need to always be optimistic..call ourselves the best...say were the best, act like were the best
No questioning players ability or coaches moves...just say yeah were the sh*t..and what do you have to say about it!

actually ive shared my ideas on this thread and a few like it so i'll leave it up to you to check that out. I think it would way better to talk about the games as fun, a place to see your friends, and the start to any fun night of partying. People arent stupid and they dont want to be lied to. (and wouldnt you feel kind of silly lying yourself?)

If you spend the time being a complete pollyanna and get students there and the team plays two games like ass you will lose those students for a much longer time than otherwise.

People arent stupid and they dont want to be lied to. With an attitude like that, you have absolutely no future in politics :-)

i dont care if i have to do the cookout at his house next season, we need to get more people to the games. i have to say that there are few things that piss me off more than people who go to school here and talk about how they would root for wisc. over us or something along the lines of that. i really dont get it. the best thing to do at this point i feel is have a really fun pre-game. it sucks that it is so cold outside doing the season, but anything that is crazy and draws attention to the team should be a productive start, and hopefull with a good season, it could spark something.
