I would say this has been the lamest thread ever on this board, but that's an insult to so many other lame threads from the past. As for MU - they look good. Some of their fans may take it as an insult, but I think they are very similar in many ways to us. I'm looking forward to the game Saturday. I think it will be a good one.

Lou:
Please note the speed of Marquette's guards -- DJO, Dwight Buycks and Vander Blue.
If we defend dribble penetration Saturday like we did against UNI, it will be a long night.

This is a dumb conversation. These Golden Eagles want to rile you all up, and they're doing a pretty good job. Speaking of wanting to "rile" people up... For someone who has made mention and gnashed their teeth over "trolls," you sure like to do the same on the JSOnline Marquette blog...

Wouldn't it be wonderful if the next four days of this thread could be devoted to, you know, basketball?

I'll do my part. scores.espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=303270269I was actually a bit surprised MU lost. After they played Duke close and the Zags have struggled a bit out of the gate, I was expecting the Marquette to win.

The MU/Duke game was fun to watch. It's so much easier to enjoy Marquette basketball now that the colossal d-bag now that Tom Crean isn't there anymore. I expect them to make the tourney again.

I actually think this is your guys' best opportunity to beat us in a long time, and probably for awhile. It's at your place (I'm willing to bet MU fans will marginally outnumber UWM fans, though), and we've not been playing all that smart basketball. Plus, you guys are due to have a hot night shooting after your clunker last night, and you'll be "up" for this "rivalry." MU, on the other hand, has yet to prove that it's a reliable outside shooting team, which is my worry. We are probably more athletic and skilled than you at most positions, but if you play an effective zone against us like the Zags did last night, we might be in trouble.

You don't need to put quotes around rivalry, us die hards aren't under the illusion that this is a rivalry. The best word is probably "series." I'm interested in how Gardner is healing up. Any news?

I haven't heard anything. I know Buzz said he was still hurting in KC, but he played decent minutes against Duke and a little less against the Zags. My guess is 3-4 days of rest/therapy/whatever treatment he's getting will help him a lot, and if someone held a gun to my head, I think he'll be fine and play. It's not a major injury from what's been reported.

You mean this isn't the game "160,000 college basketball fans in Wisconsin want to see?" You mean UWM hasn't brought "at least 8000" of its own fans to the games at Marquette? You mean this isn't the game the students on both campuses are waiting to see because the two schools play games against each other in other sports? You mean this isn't the game the players have been looking forward to because they play pick-up games against each other in the summer? Gosh, I could have sworn that I read all that stuff somewhere. Maybe it was here.

Press conference is up on GoMarquette.com. Buzz definitely not overlooking Milwaukee, which adds to why the guys need to leave everything out there on the court tomorrow. Good to see/hear respect coming from the staff downtown. It's still refreshing. Interesting that they're staying in a hotel tonight. Not sure if that has anything to do with NCAA regulations, but it's just weird that they're even closer to The Cell than we are, but they spend the night at a hotel.
