Wow, has interesting comments. I think muwarrior2007 might be the only person I've heard that grew up using UW-M. I grew with it as UWM (no hyphen) or UW-Milwaukee.

I laughed so hard when I just saw ducks post. Such hard hitting major publications as thedigitalnp.com and and the badger herald ect. refer to us incorrectly with a hyphen. Oh my!
I like how you say " Even Bo Ryan continues to refer to the school as UW-M" . Well why wouldn't the head coach of Wisconsin be a prick to us if he can get away with it? I consider it a sign of a sign of respect for our program that he calls us UW-M and would start getting worried that were completely non-relevant in college basketball if he called us Milwaukee.
I'll offer my advice to you duck. Four letter ESPN. Apparently they're the worldwide leader in sports, and although they don't do everything extremely well, one thing they do get right is what name all the teams are called. You may well be better served visiting their website on occasion to brush up on names, instead of taking the time to show why your justified to call the Milwaukee Panthers whatever you want.

Type in UW-M into Google. What comes back Then type U-WM into Google. Then type -UWM. Then type UWM-. Oh right -- Google search doesn't recognize hyphens.Furthermore, the Bo Ryan quote is from a press conference. Now unless he literally said, "UW hyphen M" out loud, the hyphen is an editorial addition on the part of uwbadgers.com.

I started attending UWM in 1982, but would go to campus couple years before as a friend had a sister who went there. I cannot recall in seeing UW-M since 1980.

A defensive bunch I see. A number of people asked here why people say UW-M as if it's some name from the 16th century. I provide you with references as current as today, including from the very arena you play your games in, the US Cellular Arena, and for that a few of you get a little testy. Gman2 says he sees a tons of people on JS Online use the UW-M and it drives him nuts. He asks, where did that come from. I provide evidence from multiple sources and what's the reaction here? It's good to see the four letter ESPN has it right. You may want to get the local newspaper, your home arena and others to start as well. Oh, and you may want to simply say thank you next time to the person that answered some of your questions rather than act the way you do.

Oh, and you may want to simply say thank you next time to the person that answered some of your questions rather than act the way you do. I never said I see tons of people in the Urinal online using UW-M and that it drives me nuts, where did you get that. All I said was that I have had an association with UWM since 1980 and not once have I seen the use of the acronym as UW-M, until you posted the Wisconsin Center District web site. But than, I think the Wisconsin Center District is a joke. Why does an entertainment district in Milwaukee call itself the Wisconsin Center District? Plus this is the entity that built the white elephant next to the Arena. So, I disregard whatever the Wisconsin District Center has on it's web site. We have been playing at the Arena for how long and these morons can't get it correct. As for the New Perspective, the person who wrote that is simply an idiot and should have know better. As for the Bo Ryan article, did Bo Ryan tell the reporter "make sure you have it as UW hyphon M" or was the reported simply an uniform soul who didn't know better.

This is a dumb conversation. These Golden Eagles want to rile you all up, and they're doing a pretty good job.

Appears MU played a pretty good game against Duke. If DJO had his stroke in the first half MU might have had a chance to win.

It's been dumb. Warrior asked if tickets were available, calls us the wrong name (intentionally or not) and we act like the Maryland Ave bridge was burned down. All this over a g**d*** hyphen?!?! When people use the wrong name politely correct them, if they continue to use the wrong name pay them no mind.
