Just noticed this as well. Any time you break the rules, it's a black eye on a coach, program and university. Fortunately, it's not something more severe... Unfortunately, it has our name attached to it. Or should I say "names." (UWM, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Wisconsin-Milwaukee) (insert sarcasm font here)

And it's a recruit we didn't even land. Shows how well these violations often actually work.
Don't think for a second that PMCK didn't do the same thing.

Which exemplifies why Pearl couldn't land Schactner even despite breaking the rules. Essentially, everyone is committing minor violations and the playing field is relatively level. It's the big violations -- agents, money exchanging hands -- that unfairly sway the recruiting battle.

I don't agree with the "I'm sure everyone did/does it" excuse. It's Pearl, not coach k, who has admitted to breaking multiple rules on multiple occasions. It's also possible that UWM "didn't land" the recruit because they stopped recruiting him after the violations were committed/reported. |

For the record, offering Schachtner a 5 & 4 deal was probably the biggest factor in Pearl not landing him.
