Chicago State wants to be in HL or OVC. Good luck. Jon Lecrone is retiring, their window is closing.

It was officially announced today. Stephen F. Austin, Sam Houston State, Lamar, Abeline Christian and Southern Utah will be joining the WAC. The first four schools are expected next season, and Southern Utah may have to wait until the following year. In true regional alignment, the Southwest Division will consist of the six Texas schools. The West Division will consist of the other seven.
This development clearly recusitates a conference that was thought to be on life support for a long time.

There will always be a need for an Island of Misfit Toys.

One week after announcing the acceptance of membership invitations, Western Athletic Conference Commissioner Jeff Hurd announced that the official join date for Abilene Christian University, Lamar University, Sam Houston State University and Stephen F. Austin State University has been moved up to July 1, 2021.

Right now Grand Canyon is on it's way for a bid in a winning the WAC over WAC power New Mexico State. Abeline Christian just won the Southland. Southern Utah lost as the #1 seed in the Big Sky. This is going to be a nice league.

The WAC will indeed be a nice league. Three of the five new teams are in the top 14 of the latest College Insider Top 25 Mid-Major poll and a fourth team is among others receiving votes. With the two-division alignment, the WAC will now have a very well-fitted geographic alignment (except for maybe Seattle, which is outside of the footprint). Also, this expansion exposes the WAC brand to football once again.
This does not look like an "Island of Mis-Fit Toys" that Jimmy described it as. I wish an HL expansion would be of this caliber.

Whatever this guy does, let's hope expansion is not on his mind until MKE can turn around the on-court success.

If this happens, college football is effectively over. Only a handful of teams can compete with the top tier of SEC teams already and the Big 10 won’t do what it’ll take to compete with the SEC. Kevin Warren is too new and inexperienced to wield any influence and the Big Ten’s mentality in expansion won’t be any effective counterpunch, competitively.

Don't forget the news from the last couple weeks where the NCAA is going to take a smaller role and let the conferences be the driving force behind competition. I'm just wondering how we're going to get f***ed by this. You just know these are two dominoes that end up doing something like moving NKU and WSU up to a stronger conference and leaving us in an even sh*ttier hole.
