I think the HL would be a last resort for St. Louis but yes they'd be an excellent addition to the conference and could only help our recruiting of the area.

I thought that conferences were judged on how they performed in the NCAA Tournament, not how many flops they could put in.

Wow! Those are some great picture! I would think NKU team itself would drag down the HL. D2 to D1 is a huge step up.
This guy who wrote the story also has UC's head coach fired as well.

NKU would immediately jump into the upper echelon of the Horizon League in terms of facilities, that's for sure.

They would need to make a much larger commitment and prove they could be successful as a D1 independant before we would ever consider them. The Bank of Kentucky Center is a larger commitment to Men's Basketball than UWM has made. New Men's Soccer field that might be better than Engelmann? They play on a dedicated on campus baseball field. Overall they have better facilities than UWM. I think their commitment to sports is there. They would be in a transition period from D2 to D1 but from the looks of things they appear to be making an investment in facilities to make the move to D1. To me they look like a potentially attractive addition to the HL.

I love Engelmann, though the bleachers can get uncomfortable on a cold night.
OK, SO NKU better's UWM in two of the three facility types?

Who even said the HL is looking for expansion. I like the league at 10 schools and 18 league games.

The simple fact that they built the on campus arena and a new on campus soccer facility indicates they are serious about D1 sports. If they commit to the programs as they did to the facilities they will be an attractive addition to a mid major conference.

Incorrect - donors paid for most of it, not Bank of Kentucky.
And being in someone else's backyard doesn't mean you suck. We share Milwaukee with some people from Chicago at MU. Wisconsin is king everywhere in this state. We did just fine in 2005.
WKU isn't crying about playing where Louisville has more fans and Kentucky is king. They've done just fine for themselves.
Also, the Norse did not get Bank of Kentucky to pay for "most" of the arena. Bank of Kentucky only paid 10% towards the cost, up to $6 million.

Big DWSU, thanks for the accurate information on the arena. But that doesn't lessen the fact that they have a great facility and have made it over a big hurdle. They have over 15,000 students. If they add a can add say a $100 per semester student fee for athletics they can raise $3M per year. That would bring their budget to $7M per year, above Green Bay. Moving to D1 could increase donations so they could be at least in the lower part of the HL in spending.
