Today's athletic board meeting shed some light on this issue. I'll post an update soon

plus if i remember correctly before this season the horizon league mandated that the home teams band is to be placed in the opposite corner from the opposing teams bench (where we are now). so unless this ridiculous rule is changed we will remain on the south side of the arena. I guess UWGB didn't get that mandate then.

I guess UWGB didn't get that mandate then. Hack, That was the actual defense used when it was brought up following our game with them. I was hanging around the scorers table after the game, and some members of UWGB's booster club were discussing it. The Horizon League must have notified them that the band was supposed to be on the opposite side of the arena and they claimed ignorance to the rule. So either UWGB is shady or incompetent Art Vandelay

They continue to set up on that side ... did it for Youngstown State on Saturday and Butler on Monday ... draw your own conclusions on how they are preceiving/violating that rule.
Shady or incompentent? Hmmm... a little from Column A and a little from Column B.

while i don't know about band regulations, Jeter said after the YSU game that opposing teams shoot towards their bench in the second half. this means the benches would have to switch sides and i believe he said that's an issue he's considering for next year.

No way this happens. The season ticket holders would be pissed, and you do not want to bite the hand that feeds. Only way this happens is if the student section actually moves, and I really don't see that happening either.

Actually Lou, it seemed like Rob was really, truly thinking about doing having opponents shoot at our section next season.

If there is a way to move the student section without it being a logistic nightmare, I could see it happening. What I don't see happening is the switching of the benches. Of course, like most things in life, I could be proven totally wrong.

I agree with Lou.......the student section will be relocated long before the bench's are.

I honestly think they are planning on moving the benches. Can you imagine the student section running from the south entrance to the north entrance and THEN all the way down to the front rows as the gates open? It'd be pretty awesome...

Personally, I would not mind it one bit.
However, I do know, for a fact, that a number of long time season ticket holders, who sit very near the Panther bench would be less than pleased.
Would this keep it from happening? I don't know, but I am sure that the university is not interested in pissing off its donors.
I think there would be a number of phone calls and discussions with donors before they did this.

Lou, it shouldn't be a problem to give them new seats behind the bench since that section is normally reserved for the visitors.

No names, but I have been told this by more than a few people.
I would sincerely hope that the season ticket holders in question would be willing to make a small concession for the good of the team, but....
You never know.

It's easier to move the Student Section than it would be to move everything else.
