The reason I didn't give MU a 100 in their column is because I'm not sure they can score that much. If Hayward would have any consistency from the outside that he showed earlier in his career, I'd be more apt to put that. But their offense runs through a man who makes 1 three-pointer a game.
That's also my key to the game. Let's say the Panthers have a shot (please don't argue whether we have a shot or not, no one believes we're playing our best basketball); how do they win?
Hayward is going to get his points. He's scoring 19 a game. How do you combat that? Make him beat you where he is uncomfortable; cut off his driving lanes and push him outside when he settles on the block. You get Hayward on the outside and guess what - he's still going to get his 16 points at least. But you know what else? He's going to put up a lot more shots. It's not about holding him to a certain number of points scored. It's about keeping him inefficient.
Do I think we're going to win? No. Do I think it will be close? Probably not. But if we play our hearts out, hit our shots (the former being much more probable) and find ourselves in position to make the most of it, this is how we're going to do it.

I feel like the shots (esp. 3pt shots) will fall for us tomorrow. I also feel MU may slip up and provide an opportunity for us to make this a game.
If we get good games out of Tony, James, Ricky, Deonte, Lonnie, Ajami, and Averkamp, and decent games from everyone else.....
I say the season could single-handidly be turned around with an historic win over the Golden Eagles tomorrow night. Has anything this season led me to believe this is possible? No. But I have seen crazier unexpected things happen and until we lose by 20-30 as most suggest, I believe we can and will win tomorrow.
Just a guess(?)........

Panthers only chance is at least three guys hitting threes. Otherwise they lose by at least 24.

We've entered the bizarro world where Milwaukee fans are praising Marquette and Marquette fans cutting Milwaukee some slack. My how the worm has turned here in a very short period of time. We must end this immediately.

MU 77, MKE 52 -- Panthers can't buy a shot + Loud MU fans + Big East refs (if you thought they were bad against Loyola...well, um...) + MU doing better than expected, save for games against the ACC + MU having something to prove after their last two games Our losing streak against North Chicago Jesuit schools continues

All I gotta say is thank God for the Syracuse/Colgate series.

This'll be another convincing loss in the failure that is this series.

I believe we'll have Horizon League referees tomorrow night, with Big East refs at the Cell in 2010-11. I don't have the contract in front of me and I'm not going to go digging for the notebook with all of the details, but I know for a fact that Big East refs will be at the Cell game and either the year before (Tuesday) or after (2011-12) will be Horizon League refs at the BC.
In either case we're screwed.

From the sounds of the panther fans on this board, you all should bet the game. Milwaukee is a 15 point dog and the majority of you don't think it will be that close, so bet on it.
Senior leader Ricky Franklin leads the panthers with 27 and freshman superstar Lonnie Boga chips in with 23 in a panthers shocker 88-77. In order for this to happen we are going to need to hit 50% of the numerous 3 pointers we will be jacking.

I will say this, given the recent developments concerning MU,their dealings with us and GB, I hope they play well in a loss and will be cheering for them in non Milwaukee Panther games for the rest of the season.
The vadgers still suck, and hopefully Marquette beats the tar out of them when they play.

Guys, don't get sucked in, Wisconsin-Milwaukee has been slow playing all year in anticipation of this game. MU gets caught sleeping! UW-Milwaukee 93 Marquette 85 If there was a "Most Obvious Troll of the Year Award", you just won it... But back to reality. Anyone see this in the game notes on the UWM athletic site? uwmpanthers.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/120609aaa.html- Matchup Histories Marquette has won all 36 previous matchups with UWM, the second-longest current streak in Division I basketball. (Syracuse has beaten Colgate 42-straight times). The two teams, though, had not met since early in the 1998-99 season before Marquette claimed a 100-65 win at the beginning of the 2007-08 season. The official series started on Jan. 20, 1917, with the teams meeting twice in that season. Prior to the 1916-17 campaign, UWM records do show matchups with the Marquette Dental School that are not considered part of the official series record. Ok, but WHY? Because last I checked, Marquette was also known as the "Marquette Dental School" when they beat us in 1917. if that's the case, then why in the world do those Marquette wins count when UWM wins OVER THE SAME SCHOOL do not? Anyone "in the know" have anything resembling a plausible explanation for this?

Milwaukee Normal School called. It wants its wins back.
Why does our school's sports information department continue to abet this fallacy?
Anyway, here's to a good, clean game with no injuries and lots of goodwill.
