Well, the man will be available again next season if this season continues to be a disappointment. Jeter's contract? As has been stated, it's a huge albatross.

I came across Dunlap's name in the Iowa forum in a thread discussing the replacement of Lickliter.

I think, given the state of the school and program, this is a very attractive job and Koonce, should he need to make a hire, will have a great pool to pick from.

Honestly, you guys are in dreamland. The best "hire" George could make would be to give Rob a long extension -- and no, I'm not suggesting that he do so. It's just that there is nothing as destructive to a mid-major program than a revolving door at the coaching position. This program has good momentum, taken as a whole. It's so tempting to throw the baby out with the bathwater sometimes -- and so wrong.

If we needed to hire someone from "within" the system (i.e. the Butler Way), well didn't we? Bud wanted Jeter when Bo left, but Jeter turned him down. So now we have him. Or does that argument not fly because we didn't hire someone from Pearl's staff?
I'm just asking the question. Not trying to provoke anyone. Certainly Dunlap is "outside" of the system, so why would we want him?

Did you read this article on pg. 7 of this thread? www.goducks.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=500&ATCLID=3705408I'm not saying they should hire Dunlap now or after this season, but he would have been (or was..not sure) a strong candidate after Pearl. As has been eluded to though...Bud wanted Jeter and he went and got him. And I agree...unless the team is horrible over the course of 3-4 seasons...a mid-major such as Milwaukee shouldn't fire the head coach and feed the revolving door aspect that already exists when a coach has success.

And if there was any basis to compare Rob Jeter and Jimmy Collins, I'd see your point. Fortunately, there is not.

And if there was any basis to compare Rob Jeter and Jimmy Collins, I'd see your point. Fortunately, there is not. One's a 15-year old turd; the other is a 5-year old turd. No disrespect, but Jeter hasn't done much with his own players. Much like Jimmy, he's recruited some bad players and has either underachieved or fielded average teams. Doesn't appear to be anything special in Milwaukee this year....is it going to get better next year?

There is nothing to justify an extension. And if you were to give an extension, for how long? And after that extension? Could we end up with a Jimmy Collins situation at UWM?
