Bluntly, Sunny had to take this job, right? Yeah, once Wyoming called him, you knew he was going. That's his home, his roots. Unlike Bart, he has a history of jumping at the next best opp, plus he had no real solid GB connections that would want to keep him there.

The blow GB is taking from losing a good coach in May will have negative repercussions for the HL and all of the programs within it. It's hard to raise the floor when something like this happens.

The blow GB is taking from losing a good coach in May will have negative repercussions for the HL and all of the programs within it. It's hard to raise the floor when something like this happens. The floor is never going to raise in a conference that has 2-3 dumpster fire programs. The Horizon League has IUPUI and Detroit Mercy, both of which seem to be locked in a never-ending death loop. Teams that can be good sometimes find themselves at the bottom of their cycle and are horrendously bad. We just got done with 6-7 rough years. Green Bay had a bad stretch of 3-4 years. RMU still hasn't figured out how to win in our conference. Cleveland State under Dennis Felton. What happens if Oakland picks the wrong successor for Kampe? Wright State certainly looks like they're about to enter a punishing era of futility they haven't seen since we were in the Sweet 16. Hopefully YSU does better. My point is, our resume is important, sure, but we're in a league that valued quantity over quality at a few points in its history and that will always bite us or whoever wins the conference in the ass. The best move is to try and finish the job Klotsche started, which is to create your own conference. With the right sales pitch, Milwaukee could pick the best of the A-10, MVC, HL and whoever to put together a 10-12 team conference that would be the best non-football conference in the country after the Big East. Just spitballing, but say you pull in this group: Loyola, Saint Louis, Dayton, Richmond, VCU, Northern Iowa, Drake, Bradley, Belmont, Milwaukee, Oakland, Northern Kentucky. The biggest hurdle to that isn't history anymore. The Valley of today isn't the Valley of 10 years ago, let alone 20. The A-10 is still far-flung and you could just leave Richmond/VCU in the A-10 for a conference that is surprisingly well-balanced geographically speaking. No, the biggest hurdle is we don't have the salesmen to sell the other schools on that conference. Also I don't think we in our current state would be in good position to compete in that conference. We just don't have the budget compared to these schools. And that's without all the issues of lining up sports, etc. It would be worth it, I just don't think we have the ability to see that to fruition. And also, as I said, we'd struggle mightily in that league. We need to build the ticket base to get in better position now, and we need to build student engagement with the program to set the program up to be in better position down the road. The #1 problem that needs to be solved in this program is our heavy reliance on student segregated fees and state resources. It should be the 25-year goal of the program to become self-sustaining. Anyways, yeah it sucks for Green Bay. But we can only control ourselves.

Has Monaghan been promoted yet? If not, they're just wasting time.

Freshman of the year, David Douglas Jr., has entered the portal. A colossal blow to that program losing him.

Has Monaghan been promoted yet? If not, they're just wasting time. I agree! Though I don't really have Green Bay's best interests at heart so they should probably do a search.

Has Monaghan been promoted yet? If not, they're just wasting time. If I'm Monaghan, I'm demanding a raise before accepting anything. Only an idiot would accept this sh*tshow of a situation on an assistant's salary.
