Sunny is legit hilarious. Great personality. I've met him a couple times in a group setting and both times he was the biggest personality in the room. One time I think was NY2LA and he was very excitable. My first thought was "coke" but that was just the energy he was putting off.
Coaching? Idk I haven't been impressed yet. But he's a cool dude. not a douchebag.

I think I’d be disappointed with this hiring if I was a Green Bay fan simply because he hasn’t proven to be a winner as a head coach at a lower level. I know it was very unlikely that Ben McCollum would end up as the head coach in Green Bay, but some of their other finalists also seemed to run strong D2 programs. I did see that Sundance did coach at D2 Missouri Western a few years back with only middle of the road results. Having said that, that’s all I’m going off of and he could be quite good. From what’s been said on here, it seems like he has a good personality, and that could make a difference.
I think they dodged a huge bullet by avoiding Gottlieb, though.

I saw this sarcastic post from someone: "His 39.8% winning percentage as a D1 assistant and 48.4% winning percentage as a D2 head coach probably put him over the top amongst other candidates!" I have not confirmed the percentages. If accurate, then who is this? PBS but with an upbeat personality? This comment will not be popular with the masses here, but I hope I Wicks succeeds and brings the program back to respectability. It would be good for Milwaukee and the Horizon League, as it would reinvigorate the rivalry and give the conference a much needed boost.

If the gig at GB doesn't work out, then he should go on the motivational speaking circuit. This is awesome:
“I’m a run-into-the-fire type of guy,” Wicks said. “That’s me, man. There is a burning building, let’s go save some lives. People might look at this and say, ‘Oh, this might take some time.’
“Our job isn’t to sit there and say it’s going to be an X amount of years. Our job is to go in there and create belief, create culture, create connection to the tradition and the history that has been there before. There have been people who have won. (Brian) Wardle. (Tod) Kowalczyk. (Dick) Bennett. (Mike) Heideman. Linc (Darner). They won. You can win in Green Bay. That’s not a question. Culture doesn’t take four years to build. It takes belief, it takes people who believe in the mission and the vision. That can be built sooner rather than later.”

Kowalczyk. Wardle.
That's all fine and good if you want to win games in November, December and January.
I want guys who will win in MARCH. Bennett, Heideman and Darner all did that to varying degrees.

I've been quietly hoping Amanda Braun could be persuaded to return to Green Bay to do for the Phoenix what she has done for the Panthers, but perhaps they already have someone on staff of her level of competance. We've gotten Xtownfan back here, can GBBBisBack be far behind?

One thing to potentially keep an eye on with this hire is that Michael Cooper was a student assistant at Northern State when Wicks was associate head coach there from 2016-18. Don't know what the difference in pay between Director of Player Development here and assistant coach at GB would be.

There are a few arguments that could be made in favor of the Green Bay Phoenix leaving the Horizon League and joining the WIAC to play basketball with schools of similar stature, as well as leaving the Resch Center to play full-time in the on-campus Kress Events Center.
First, joining the WIAC could offer the Green Bay Phoenix a more level playing field in terms of competition. The WIAC is composed of Division III schools and would allow the Phoenix to compete against schools of similar size and resources, potentially giving them a better chance to win games and build a successful program.
Second, playing full-time in the on-campus Kress Events Center could offer several benefits, including cost savings and increased fan engagement. By moving away from the Resch Center, the Phoenix could save on facility rental costs and potentially generate more revenue from ticket sales and concessions by playing on-campus. Additionally, playing on-campus could create a more intimate atmosphere and increase fan engagement and support for the team.
However, it is important to note that there are potential downsides to leaving the Horizon League and joining the WIAC. The Horizon League offers higher visibility and exposure for the Phoenix, as well as opportunities for post-season play and potential NCAA tournament bids. Joining the WIAC would likely mean giving up these opportunities and potentially limiting the exposure and recognition of the program.
Additionally, leaving the Resch Center could impact the ability of the Phoenix to attract larger crowds and generate revenue from ticket sales and concessions, as the Kress Events Center has a smaller seating capacity.
Ultimately, the decision to leave the Horizon League and join the WIAC and leave the Resch Center to play full-time in the Kress Events Center would require careful consideration of the potential benefits and drawbacks, as well as input and feedback from stakeholders such as fans, alumni, and university officials.
