I had to do a double take when I saw the final score. I knew they looked good against UIC, but this is something else.

The Green Bay player who lead them to victory is the Horizon league Player of the week.

At least were above Stritch and Parkside on that list, albeit barely...

I watched the game. It was an absolutely legit win. Wisconsin didn't play terribly -- Green Bay just played really well and shot lights out.
I hereby admit that I couldn't have been more wrong about GB for this season. Great win for the H League.

Green Bay didn't even shoot the lights out, they shot 48% from the field but also 45% from the 3 and 74% (23-31) from the line. They out shot Madison, forced Madison to 18 turnovers and only had 10 turnovers and got the win. I honestly think had Milwaukee had gotten their shots to fall last night (and obviously cut down a lot on the 21 turnovers), it could have turned out like this.
Nice win for the Phoenix and the Horizon League but I felt sick rooting for Green Bay haha.

I didn't root for Green Bay. Do you have any idea what impact this will have on the perception of that program and its recruiting across the state and region? As for our game, if we had shot 48 percent from the field and 45 percent from the 3-point arc and shot more free throws for a higher percentage and rebounded better and played better defense and worn our gold uniforms instead of the black ones and different sneakers and if there had been a power outage after we took an early lead if we ever took one ...

I'm not going to lie and say this doesn't help Green Bay and its program but Milwaukee has its own problems to worry about right now. A Green Bay win though HELPS the Horizon. Am I pretty concerned/worried about the season series with Green Bay now? Absolutely but I am not going to give it up to Green Bay and say they will sweep Milwaukee. Obviously if Milwaukee keeps shooting and turning the ball over like they have the last week then yes, they will. I still think Milwaukee turns it around soon. The last time Milwaukee lost 2 in a row this season far, they won the next 5 in a row. Yeah that means they would have to beat Wisconsin and Butler. Tall challenges indeed. I do not get though why so many people are starting to right this season off this soon.

Only if GB can do what we were unable to do. I don't know how much this victory will really do for recruiting, I mean you'd think we would have posted at least one top 3 finish after our NCAA success with all the momentum we had, but not so much. Maybe Tod Kowalczyk is a better coach and recruiter than Rob and can parlay this win into big things for the program. This thought makes me sick.

As far as actual impact, I don't know how much the win will impact recruiting but I have an idea as to how much poor man will TRY to have it impact his recruiting. Rob's more of a straight shooter, no BS (or as little as possible) whereas poor man is more of a salesman/spinster.

Hack, I was thinking the very same thing. State power rankings: 1, Green Bay 2, Wisconsin 3, Marquette 4, Milwaukee It's hard for me to rank them because I think Marquette matches up well against GB and probably beats them even at the Resch. But I still think the Badgers are a favorite against Marquette. I think the only for sure ranking is the Panthers at the bottom of the pecking order.

Im curious as to your definition of "lights out", according to the box score GB shot 48% from the floor (which is very good) and 50% from 3pt range (which is extremely good for a team when they attempt more than 10) AS A TEAM. GB seemed to answer with a 3pt shot every time they needed it. GB played outstanding basketball when it counted, I tip my hat to them.

Don't kid yourselves, folks. Green Bay's guard triumvirate of Rahmon Fletcher, Bryquis Perine and Troy Cotton match up very well against most of the backcourts in the country. Who do you like in Marquette's backcourt? Darius Johnson-Odom and who? Remember, the key to the undersized but tenacious Phoenix this season is its 3-point shooting and extended fullcourt defense. Gotta give credit where credit is due.

GB seemed to answer with a 3pt shot every time they needed it. GB played outstanding basketball when it counted, I tip my hat to them. Lights out would be 50% and above, usually closer to 60%. As from 3, the stats I was looking at from Yahoo had them at 45%, ESPN has them at 50%. Yeah, 50% (9-18) from 3 is pretty good if that's their actual stats from three. When Milwaukee shot 57% from 3 and 52% from the field vs. Texas State, that was the best scoring game of the season. Look I'll admit the offense hasn't looked the best this season so far but whenever they've been 40-50% from the field and from 3 they've usually won. They shot 41% last night while Marquette shot 52%. 40-50% and above from the field usually does win games. Out of Milwaukee's 6 wins, they shot over 40% 5 times. During the 4 losses, they allowed the other team to shoot over 46% each time while shooting 35-42% from the field. Marquette shot 52% from the field and 40% from 3 against Milwaukee and won by twenty (while Milwaukee shot 41% from the field and 25% from 3). Indiana State shot 57% from the field and 60% from 3 (while Milwaukee shot 35% from the field and shot 25% from 3) and won by 13. The defense has picked up for the lack of offense in a game several times this season so far but when the offense was needed to pick up for the lack of defense in a game this season, it has not happened very often.
