UIC loses rather handily at Western Illinois tonight. An abberation? Or a fall back to earth? Will be interesting to see for sure...

There goes the last of the Horizon League's at-large hopes.
On a side note, I've been to the WIU gym and it's a lousy little bandbox.
I would take it in an instant over what we currently have.

UIC does have some solid games in there, headed by SMU.

I don't blame the Flames for wanting to play a majority of their games against regional opponents.
But there's an array of teams with sub-200 RPIs filling UIC's schedule, SMU and Dayton notwithstanding.
A big part of the reason this schedule fails is the sorry state of college basketball in Illinois.

Actually not a bad schedule for us this season. Except for St Xavier and Judson...... most of the rest are middling D1 teams we need to beat in order to get back on the path to respectability. Lots of new faces, again, and we need a much better season's results this year. Improvement is definitely expected............
Then comes conference without a clear cut, head and shoulders expected leader. We need to be in the mix, again, and should be................

Where are the coveted high school seniors committing to UIC? I'm not saying you have to get Jabari Parker, but it would be nice to beat D-I's other than Chicago State every once in awhile. We need you guys to be strong. Sent from my SCH-R970 using proboards

Thanks to DKelly for his research.
Whereas teams based in Wisconsin enjoyed an average RPI of 74 in the 2013-14 season, teams from Illinois compiled a staggeringly high collective RPI of 222.
Surprisingly, teams from the basketball-crazed state of Indiana had an average RPI of 174 a year ago.

Plus it's a good year when Marquette isn't terrible and is still the worst of the 4. Sent from my SCH-R970 using proboards

Perhaps, but the fact remains that on the whole teams from the state of Illinois are God-awful.
There's simply no way to sugarcoat it.

UIC went down in flames tonight at home ... to Grand Canyon!
And Howard Moore has something like five years left on his contract.
Oh, my!
