Klotsche definitely deserves a tribute, but the name of the student section doesn't really seem to cut it. How bout the J. Martin Klotsche court, like KU does with Naismith. The Krazies moniker, no matter how it's spelled, belongs to Duke. I'm sorry. It does. The student section can then go by the less confusing and imo better sounding Cell Block. We also then won't have to worry about more than half the students calling themselves Klotsch-ke Krazies (which drives me as crazy as ek-cetera).
Then we can sprout from that with the 'Panther Pack' shirts having vertical stripes and we can create our own identity. The Klotsche court idea also works if/when the team moves again. I don't think it'd be back to the Klotsche Center, since that was just renovated, but wherever it is, the name of the court can follow even if they wind up playing at the [insert bank, soft drink or consumer electronics brand name here] Arena.

They're Klotsche's Krazies because he was the founder of the University, not because of any building or facility. And they were Klotsche's Krazies while he was still the Chancellor, well before those tards who hang out in Cameron called themselves that.

So the Cameron Crazies stole it from us!

If memory serves me correctly, the name started back in the 70's. A group of students started a petition to eliminate the Athletic Fee (which was $7.00 at the time) and give it to the Fine Arts.
Klotsche made it clear he wanted Athletics as part of the campus. Someone (I can't remember if it was a member of the Faculty Senate or a student involved in the petition drive) said that he was crazy if he thought we'd ever have a successful program.
Those of us supported Athletics responded. Someone brought a sign to a BB game. It said "We Believe. We're Klotsche Crazy" Things took off from there.
If I remember correctly, we played that game against what was then known as Illinois at Chicago-Circle (now UIC). They were pretty bad back then, but our even so the Panthers put on a great performance at the old Baker Fieldhouse. Fired up by a packed house, they kept ICC from being able to bring the ball across the half court line for 10 full minutes.
When they finally were able to get it across we gave them a standing ovation.
We seem to have so few traditions, what's wrong with keeping this one. Make the students aware of the history of the man and the fact that when they say they're a Klotsche Krazy, they're also saying "I believe."

I'm currently plowing through "Confessions of an Educator," Klotsche's memoirs from 1985.
There's no way I will support a name change.
Sport, I'd love to have accounts of that story from other people back then. If I did, I'd be able to figure out more of the legend and teach it to the student section.

If I could remember for sure some of the details, I'd provide them. But we are talking more than 30 years ago. Like Im not sure if the comment was that Klotsche was crazy or anyone was crazy if they thought we'd have a successful program (but I think they said Klotsche).
The one thing I'm sure of is that some students started calling themselves Klotsche's Crazies at the games at Baker Fieldhouse. It wasn't a student section like we think of it today. It wasn't that organized. It was some of the students who regularly showed up at the games calling themselves that and I'm pretty sure it was in response to the anti-athletic drives.
I also have vivid memories of that game against what is now UIC. I've never seen defense like that before or since. So maybe that's why I think it started there.

The Klotsche Krazies stay. In other news, we're considering making these our signature in the student section:

Well you heard coach yesterday, it would be great to have something signature by which people will know our section.
I've looked on the internet and I can't find vertical striped t-shirts that would be feasible and look like Pounce's, so my idea is out the window I think.

Quick comment to the decision makers of name/shirts/student section ideas. The shirt ideas just came up on my facebook "highlights" and I looked them over. Has anyone considered going with black shirts? It's all the rage now in fan sections and I think it would be a really popular color with the casual fan. God knows in High School every student's pants got tight at the prospect of a black or white out. I think that would be a cool idea to try out to drum up fan support. (not exactly the most original I know I know.) Also i believe Jimmy threw out the idea of vertical stripes like pounce another great idea. As a side note I think I have the start up costs this year to make the F*ck Bucky shirts I wanted to do two years ago, as I recall not very popular on this board, but if anyone wants to message me I could discretely send you one in an unmarked box.
