As new students join the existing students in our student section this year, I think it's important if we organize some specific cheers or activities that will enhance the energy of the stadium and our team as well. This being my last year(possibly), I would love for nothing more than our student section to get crazy for the games and to actually have an effect on the outcome of the games.
Therefore, I am wondering if anyone would be interested in coming up with ideas for some creative, preferably not too vulgar cheers, to place all on one sheet where myself and some friends could print them out for the games to pass out. This way people, new and old, have some kind of idea what the hell it is we're trying to chant. Of course, the Bruce Pearl chant and possibly one or two others from the past will already be on there. Let me know, and if you have some ideas please post them on the board in the student section threads.

You can borrow my Soccer Hooligan chant book and alter them for the student section...

I have a sheet that could be printed out with all the cheers that we currently use. I will try to get a bunch printed out 4 the Air force game, if I can't get them done by Sunday I will have them for the next home game.

If you need to read the cheers than they probably won't work to well. I thought the cheers were pretty good tonight. Need more students in the Cell.

Good job tonight! Keep up the 5-4-3-2-1 countdown on the inbound play. It worked well tonight. We got a well coached AF team to burn up a bunch of timeouts trying to get the ball inbounds. They really could have used those TO's at the end of the game, but had none left ;D. I was sitting at half court and could see the inbounders becoming visibly frustrated when the students were chanting and yelling behind them. If we can frustrate such a good team just imaging how much we can get in the heads of the other teams that seem to have temper problems, UIC comes to mind LOL. Oh I forgot to mention, did anybody else see the UIC player walking around the concession area at the half? He was in his UIC warm-ups at a UWM game, what the ? They must be worried if they are driving up here to scout a game in person.

I saw the UIC scum leaning on a wall as if to advertise his alliance with Satan. I glared at him... but I'll let Bruce and the boys do my talking for me this year.
As for my yelling, that's a different story. Great job at the AF game everybody, let's keep it up.

The sheet would be for newer fans to know the endings to some of the cheers like SEX, VIAGRA, ORGY, etc..., I think that it would be benificial for newer students to know them.

we need to slow down our cheers. gotta make them last at least 35 seconds. also, we should throw some variety in there. we can only do "U...W...M" so many times in a row before other students bail out on the cheers. gotta use the "lets go panthers", "Mil-wau-kee", "de-fense" and other classics more. also, if we're gonna keep the sexual cheers, we need to make sure we use them when others can hear it. not during announcements and dance team routines.

At the Air Force game i was really impressed with how long we could say our cheers. AF uses all the clock and my voice was shot by the end of the night.
1. U - W - M clap i agree we do use it alot, however, its the easy to say and theres that one guy that always starts it. hard to ignore.
2. Air Ball
I think we did a good job of messing with the air ball twins. Except that cheer is so hard, because they only have the ball for a limited amount of time. Maybe we should just limit ourselves to saying air ball during their foul shooting.
3. We need to get on the center or power forward during a foul time. We need to get some chants for the center. Cuz hes practically with in spitting distance. (not that we should spit on him) Someone come up with that.
4. D - Fence, we need to use that chant more often.
5. McCoy and Ford
they always make the T with their elbows after a good play or when they are hyped up. We should figure out what that means, or come up with chant for those guys. They are definetly going to be our power D for the rest of the year.
Heres somet stuff we could add on to our cheers.
Legend: X = Clap, P = Pause,
Dribble it (xx) Pass it (xx) We (p) Want (p) A BASKET! (xx)
You walked, You walked, You traveled and got caught!
T-A-K-E, take it away
S-C-O-R-E let’s score
When a player for the opposing team gets c***y we should chant
SCORE BOARD SCORE BOARD

I really like those cheer ideas. Just to implement them now...best way to go would with that cheer sheet.
I think that we should come up with situational cheers that can be used all the time. Like for example, the one for travelling is really good, and the sex cheers are solid. But we have a few that are missing, say for a shot clock violation, 3 second calls, etc. Any ideas?

I think there is a need for a David Gruber Cheer. That would be hilarious...he sits just to the right of the student section behind the bench.
"David Gruber - One Call, Thats All!" Might work for a hard foul or really crappy call.
Later, UWMfreak

I think the dribble it, pass it cheer is a very good one...no offense but it's much better than 2 points, clap clap, 2 points which I thought I heard from the cheerleaders last game. Add that one to the list along with one for David Gruber.
I also want to add one for everytime our players do something in particular. Like everytime after McCants hits a three, we can chant, "He's our savior!" (clap, clap, clap clap clap). If we could think of some for the entire starting lineup, like after Ford blocks a shot, or Tucker gets a dunk, then we'd be getting creative.

I think the air ball chant during the free throws worked well. Chanting anything gets in their head more than just random yelling. It will be a challenge to do it when more students are at the game. What we need are cheer conductors-(tall fans that can coordinate the cheers). I also noticed on Sunday that the students in the back just sit and don't cheer, maybe we need some of the crazy fans to take one for the team and stand in the middle or the back of the student section so they get the other students into the game too. A few years ago the band made a girl from GB cry by just merely chanting her name the whole game even when she was on the bench! It was genius! Also if we ever get a screamer for a coach we need to start the cardiac coach chant. We have been using that one on GB's girls coach forever.
