After watching the student section last night, I think some kudos are in order.
It was light years ahead of what we're used to. Love the stomping on the boards thing, the jump thing, the chants, the fact that it actually appears people in it are having a blast supporting their team.
And the numbers are much better. All in all I'd have to say that if there was such a thing, those organizing our section would unanimous choices for first team all conference.
Keep up the great work

Thank you. Despite not being present in the student section anymore, it feels good to have had (and still have) a hand in making it what it is today. We have a very dedicated, passionate core of student section "Cell Block" Krazies, and they are certainly making our program proud. Keep up the good work guys, you're getting better AND BIGGER every game!

beartrap, parkerj, and Matt Traub are most responsible for last night's game.
The best thing about this season is there's no need for a "Way to Go Jimmy" thread. I'm not the only one. We've got a small army of about 15-20 students who are doing all the legwork.
Next year, that small army becomes 50, then 100, then so on and so on.

It seems Czekalski wants to do the Jump On It earlier in the game. We're going to have to work hard to make sure everyone does it on Saturday and from now on. Great front row leadership, the whole section got all the chants. If possible, our 20 or so isn't enough anymore. After the Party Section, which is right by the end of the band, we lose a lot of noise. We also don't have any SBGC people on the right side of the student section, we will need people over there. That size student section is wicked awesome. If we fill the blue seats from now on like we did last night, I will be totally happy. It feels GREAT to not have to worry about how to get more students going. Just sustain. Now we have to focus on making the whole student section loud and working together. We will have to get multiple white boards and markers. Managing the biggest student section in the conference is gonna be fun

about the jump on it... we need the guy to play the intro to the song. you can't get as many people into it if you start right at the chorus. i noticed that by the time the kids behind the band were getting into it the song was already over.
all that aside it's nice to actually play for people not empty seats, i'm sure our ball players feel the same way.

And have him not play it during random 30-second timeouts.

It's a unique UWM thing that could start a tradition and it's traditions that keep the students coming back after they graduate. As anyone whose been to a Badgers fifth quarter and watched the alumni do the same dances they did as undergrads knows.

a group of us talked with some of the players today and we got great compliments for the work we have done, and how great the section was on wed.
we are looking to get a good number on Saturday as well. as we found in our work its not that students dont want to go, they just dont know when games are
and thanks to all of the people sbgc memebers who actually did the leg work in getting the word out

One thing we need to do is continue to talk in front of our lectures. We can reach 200+ students in one swoosh if we just get up in front of a lecture and talk for 20 seconds. I believe it worked last week for me; there were classmates in my lectures who showed up to the games. Whether they heard from me in lecture, or walked past beartrap and co. in the cafeteria, the fact of the matter is the excuse that they didn't know there was a game doesn't apply anymore.
I wish the weather weren't so sh*tty and we could chalk.
Another thing I'd like to do is use Schultz' loudspeaker and walk around campus. That would get some attention for sure.
I'd also like to second beartrap's thank you to everyone who did the work last week. Specifically:
Matt Traub Korry Bertram Travis Wacker John Parker
If I missed anyone, I'm sorry.

Whoever had the big U-W-M signs at the GB game those were real nice, but looked suspiciously similiar to the ones the cheerleaders use at the game. If that is the case you need to pitch to the cheerleading coach to get a few for a couple "leaders" in the student section. It would help the cheerleaders with crowd involvement as well...

Yeah..those were the cheerleaders signs. But this is the thing, from what Im guessing Lee the cheer coach wants it her way and doesn't like to work with the students at least thats what I feel like...I know in previous talks we have suggested that some of the current "leaders/die hards" would help the cheerleaders if asked.
