I'd prefer it if members of the student section did not vote.

didn't vote...but i'll say this:
from inside the section, i really liked the numbers and the volume...but there were several times where the cheerleaders and band would start one chant, the guys up front would start another, and some people in the back would start a third...
nothing we really could've done about it though...the guys in the back clearly had way too much to drink...

Guys in the back were all right by me.
Guys in front (ahem dunnedeal, gopanthers11) were just doing the cheers and watching the game; there was no leading. They didn't turn around and get people involved or anything. I was roving, and 6 rows behind you couldn't hear what they were doing.
Not a knock, just preparation for next time.

LOL...see these are the issues that have not come up, due to the fact that the guys up front and the party section are at the games all the time..and the guys in the back, came out for GB or ESPN. I just hope that the game was so good to those casual fans that more of them will show up.

Agreed , there were numerous times that several cheers from the Student Section and Cheerleaders were going at once, and they basically canceled each other out. I agree with Dunne however, this hasn't been a noticeable problem in the past, as this was the first time there has been any other large groups high up in the student section starting chants. But the thing with the cheerleaders and the regulars butting heads needs to be worked on though...

I would like to mention that I think the cheerleaders stepped up their game because of the ESPN spotlight...they looked happy to be at a game, excited and not there normal oh I have to cheer again spirit I tend to see

IMO that section at the game really felt like to me the student sections of 05-06. Brought back some great memories for me.

I would just like to say this: the cheerleaders sometimes use long cheers at time and that it can be hard to students to completely follow in what the girls are saying. I'm not completely knocking them; just saying that some of the cheers are different, I guess. Also, it's hard to control drunk college students at times.

i think that the section is fine, once we get back into school kids will come if we keep winning and are at the top of the conference. As for the cheering, there is no way that you can control an entire student section, people do what they want and they come to games for fun, and i dont know one school that their student section always follows the student section. I dont think there is anything to worry about.

I haven't been able to make many games this year due to the economy but I did make the GB game. I was fairly impressed with the student section.
First of all it was much larger than I expected given the break
Second, it was loud for most of the game
Third, I really liked the jump dance. It was something I hadn't seen before and it was not the standard jump around. Our own original routine. Things like that can get the students coming back for more.
At any rate, I give you guys a four. I'd have made it a five but there were a few crucial times when the section was fairly quiet.

If you like us doing the Jump On It dance, e-mail Andy Czekalski at czekals2@uwm.edu and tell him so.
They were open to it at first, now they're moving it around so we don't know when it's going to be. If we know when it is, we'll be able to get the whole section to do it.
Except KRaw hahaha
