Holic reminded me of this, since I forgot to do this last night.
How were we? Did you find the student section to be good, to work well? Were there obvious weak points in the section, or were we good throughout?
What can we do to improve what we have?
How do you like the new tradition of Jump On It?
Do you have any suggestions for new chants?
Any response would be greatly appreciated. We're already looking into a new chant to replace Airball.
Note: This is not on the size of the student section. We know we need to improve on the 250-300 that were there tonight.

Why would you replace the air ball chant? The players know it, it can get in their heads. I say, don't mess with what works.
Speaking of which, it needs to be chanted every time that player touches the ball, for the rest of the game. That part was absent last night.
The size of the section looks to be getting bigger. Keep up the good work.

We know we need to improve on the 250-300 that were there tonight. I think they relented a little bit on "Airball" when it became obvious we were going to easily win this one (same with the "He's a smurf" chant). That's cool though- it shows a little class (trust me we aren't known for class- at least not the beahvior of our student section and most of our fans- but that is a good thing (someone needs to be a 6th man, right?)). I thought overall the student section was impressive. I wish I could get back in (graduate) school so I could be a (real) part of it! I noticed that involvement and loudness were proportional to the proximity of everyone from the front row leaders (Jimmy, Dunne, etc.). The further back students were, the more likely they were to be silent and not involved in the Krazy atmosphere. It's the first game though. I lost my voice (in Iowa- still trying to get it back- no joke!), so I was quite in the regular section I sit in, but hopefully by mid-season, the team will be rockin', the student section will build up to an avg. of around 500-700 each game (and EVERYONE will get involved or be forced to look like the only quiet person in the student section..!), and also I hope the rest of the crowd gets louder. I know this was just Upper Iowa, and a lot of die-hard fans are probably giving Rob and the Panthers a kind of "wait and see- I'm not going to get prematurely excited again" approach. Once things have clicked for some time- we could all make the Cell a very feared place to play once again. One other thing- I know this has been mentioned as a point of contention, but I think that somehow, the student section and the cheerleaders should coordinate/work together a little better. The student section was good last night, but I saw the cheerleaders get drowned out by the section more than a few times- in the middle of their chants. I feel bad (they prob. feel bad), and I guess I wish their was a way to signal when/when not to chant to avoid what sounded like disrespect to our cheerleaders.- those girls work their tails off, and compared to the cheerleaders (no offense to those squads) from the Pearl days- these cheerleaders are awesome. All in all, 3-1 is a great start. Most people expect us to be 4-3 after the Wisconsin game, but I don't buy it. I see a team out their that has big upset potential if shots fall (esp. 3's) and defense is solid. I think we'll be 5-2 after UW (upsetting either the Eagles or the Badgers... you never know...). But first things first- let's give Marquette some tough competition- we were a joke last year at the end, and we gotta prove they we belong as a premier D-I team in this city and a legit contender in all of the NCAA. GO PANTHERS!!!!

How do you like the new tradition of Jump On It? Thoughts: I like that its unique. Certainly doesn't have the arena shaking presence of the song it replaced. I'm not sure if it was just because the crowd outside the student section didn't know what to do or what? Its choreographed which is definitely different from Jump Around which was a drunken mess. I think I prefer drunken messes but Jump on it has breaks so this is difficult.

The reason we dont do Jump Around is because that is a Vager thing not a Panther thing Madison is not the only school that uses Jump Around, why is it so hard for you people to get that. just about every school in the ACC or Big East will use that song at some point or time in the game, and usually all of them use it to hype up the crowd, that is the point and it does it well.....yes Madison has a specific point when they do it for their football games which carried over but they are not the only school that uses it, and the idea that we can not use that song because some other school does is just a complete crock! If you talk to other schools and those who do their music they all love using that song during the game because it does what it is supposed to and that is get the crowd going and hyped up, it just has to be done at the right time....

Personally, I was really hoping for a "WE WANT 90" chant (points, we had 87) during the final 30 seconds of the game to come from the students!!

Dutch, we've been through this before.
If you went to ESPN, talked to a random broadcaster, and held up a boombox playing Jump Around, do a little word association. Name the school? Wisconsin. That is the first answer. They're not the only school to use it, but they are the school that is associated with Jump Around.
We adopted Jump On It because we want it to be our tradition, our deal.
Other schools do Jump Around, but the school that identifies with it is far away from them, so they don't have the problem we have. If we have Jump Around, we have that shadow of UW-Madison hanging over us. Sports fans in Wisconsin relate Jump Around to Madison. See those UWM students doing Jump Around? Poor kids couldn't get into Madison.
