This is a debatable issue...
On one hand, If Wright State wins we send two to the Tourney and the League gains respect, but Butler and WSU look better to potential recruits, in turn hurting UWM in the process.
On the other hand, if say...YSU wins and gets creamed in round one, and Butler somehow doesn't make the tournament, UWM looks all the better to recruits and fans. I'd normally tend to lean in this direction, because I'd rather dominate a week league every year than lose in a slightly better league...
But, in this case, since Butler is going for sure, and we're down now, most likely to bounce back big next year with great recruits, I think it's most benneficial that WSU or Loyola wins, and we send two teams.

I'd love for WSU to win the conference tourney and we send 2 teams.
I have faith in Jeter to bring in solid recruits for us.

My question is why was everyone cheering them on to beat Detroit two years ago in the Horizon League Tourney? Remember the "We want Green Bay" chant? They snuck away with a win over us at the Resch just a month earlier, I remember everyone wanting to get back at them for that.

I think the fact that we had problems with Detroit (We lost earlier in the year at home that year) and we smoked uwgb by 20+ at the Cell that year, made the decision easy for me to cheer for uwgb. Detroit was pretty solid that year with Cotton, Coville, and the transfers from Michigan (Chuck Davis???) and Syracuse. I will NEVER cheer for a uwgb team.

No matter who ends up going to the dance, I don't think it would have much of an effect on recruiting for UWM. It might effect it somewhat, but I'm under the belief that recruiting is more about the connection between coaches and the recruit than anything else. I think Jeter and his staff are good enough recruiters to overcome 1 down year.
I think that it'd be best for the conference if WSU won the HL tourney and 2 HL teams (Butler and WSU) went to the dance. I think WSU has a better chance of winning a game in the dance than Loyola, therefore would be the better team to go. Plus, I hate Schilb.
I know I started this thread, but have yet to weigh in...for the record, as long as pmck is running things in GB...I will never cheer for them!

Right now No, but after the 2008 season when pmck fails to meet expectations and is replaced by Gary Grzesk (you heard it hear first!!) then if the Panthers are out I would probably cheer for them.........man, I can't believe I just typed that I might cheer for Green Bay . Right on Kingsbury. Grzesk is the next GB coach. It is just a matter of when. dylanrocks and I have had this discussion already. With Grzesk at the helm I will just hate GB, not loathe them.

Since it's out there:
Once Gary is the head coach at GB, I'll have deep and abiding respect for the program, just as I did when Dick Bennett was the coach there. The only stumbling block is AD Ken Bothof.

Not to be a stickler but let's try to remember NOT to capitalize pmck please. It gives him too much respect. That goes for you jhart, hoops and pantherfan06.... ;D LOL Change noted and taken care of.

I couldn't cheer for UWGB with or without pmck, even if Dick Bennett was the coach.
