Saw the radio show last Monday in the Gasthaus at 7PM. Not to many supporters there. Some things that were said,
It sounds like he's waiting until Horizon League games to give Mauldin real playing time.
He likes the extra dimension that Thornton can bring to the game and is very pleased with his work ethic. Hopes that during the season and especially next season that he will put on some weight. Jeter likes that he is/will be a scoring threat, but also likes the idea that sooner or later guys may have to double up on him leaving others open.
Obviously, disappointed with the two losses, but put some of the blame on it being 3 in a row and that fatigue had set in by Sunday and had no time in between to improve and fix mistakes.

I am on campus every day Monday-Thursday. I have NEVER seen one advertisement this year for a game or for the Rob Jeter show. If people knew it was happening, they'd go. The students and city care about the Panthers, and there's no doubt about that. The low turnouts might make the players think the students don't care but that's not the case. But I don't have a schedule nor know where to get one. Joe Schmo isn't going to check the UWM website for an athletic schedule. Those should be available all over the place so people look and realize "hey there's a game tonight."
The program has a little bit of recognition now and built a positive reputation for itself. It's the universities job to keep building on that, but they are neglecting to do so. What's the point in even being successful if there's no one there to watch. I think it's absurd how little the athletic department does to promote athletic events. There is no reason only 3000 people go to a UWM game on a weekend. I guarantee the reason for the low turnouts is not informing the students there is a game. Maybe they advertise on WOKY, but who the hell listens to that station except the elderly?

They advertise on 920, 620, ESPN Radio, Fox Sports net, Channel 12 and CBS 58 as well as WMLW. I know people want to keep putting the blame on someone else, but I think the members of this board need to step it up a bit. Everyone's a critic, and hardly anyone's a part of the solution

bball30...you are absolutely right...
There is advertisement out there, and there is advertisement on camus. To me it is a matter of people caring or not. I totally agree that more could be done, and from what has been said, it looks as if more is going to be coming down the pipeline. It's a question of commitment, and unfortunately, at this point we don't have that from our students.

Everyone who wants this program to grow has to be as well. And we all have to step up.

This notion about Sam playing sparingly before the conference season begins runs counter to what a group of us who regularly frequent the board were told by a pocket of coaches after the UAB game. In addition, it runs counter to common sense.

Maybe so dylanrocks, but what you believe runs counter to what Jeter himself said at the radio interview. I did not mean to say that he is not going to receive any playing time; it sounds like he will have increasing playing time as the season progresses so that he feels comfortable and reduces the risk of him reinjuring himself.
Also, although it was an obvious problem this weekend - could we please stop turning every thread into a call for more school spirit.

Shower, no criticism intended. I was just merely echoing what I had been told by the coaching staff. That's all.

Perhaps what Jeter was implying in the radio show comments was something like "Sam will be a starter by the time the conference season kicks off".
Just pure speculation.
I would love a lineup of Charlie, Ricky, Paige, Sam and Marcus.
all 5 can play inside and out, rebound, run and play defense. Also takes Ricky out of the 3 and back to the 2/1 and lets Charlie get into the flow early at 2/1. Both are hybrid guards able to play both spots (as they have already).
Charlie is more suited to the 1 in this lineup, though.

I would love a lineup of Charlie, Ricky, Paige, Sam and Marcus. This is what I've been sayin all along...either this or Sam, Marcus, Paige, Ricky and Avo...at least to start... but I don't know, Charlie is my favorite panther thus far...and I gotta show him some love too

I gotta think that AVO has worked his way into a solidified role in the lineup, he is one of the only people on the team who has shown the scoring presence this team needs.

I don't watch 12 or 58, nor listen to espn radio or 920. The blame should be put on someone. I don't have anything to back this, but I assume there's some group of people who are getting paid to promote games. Whoever is doing this is doing a lousy job plain and simple. The fans must do their part to get people to go to games thats for sure. Word of mouth is the best. But the athletic department is who needs to "step it up". Spend more money on advertising. Make banners. Hand out sh*t. Raise awareness for sh*ts sake.
